Job Title: Clean Room Assembler Job Description

The Clean Room Assembler reads detailed work instructions and production drawings to build pacemakers, implantable pulse generators (IPGs), catheters, and related sub-assemblies in a controlled clean room environment. This role involves working under a microscope, using small hand tools, performing visual inspections, trimming parts, soldering pacemaker enclosures and wires, documenting work in quality systems, and completing final packaging of medical devices. You will support new product development and work closely with technicians to complete full device builds, such as complete pacemaker or catheter assemblies, while maintaining high quality and precision standards.

• Read and interpret work instructions, travelers, and production drawings to perform accurate assembly of medical devices and sub-assemblies.
• Build IPGs, pacemakers, catheters, guidewires, and related components within a clean room environment following strict quality and cleanliness standards.
• Perform assembly tasks under a microscope, including handling and positioning very small parts with precision and care.
• Use small hand tools to complete mechanical and electrical assembly operations, including trimming parts and securing components.
• Solder pacemaker enclosures and wires, ensuring proper connections and adherence to medical device manufacturing requirements.
• Conduct thorough visual inspections of parts and assemblies to identify defects, verify quality, and ensure compliance with specifications.
• Document all work performed in travelers, QMS (Quality Management System) or ERP systems, maintaining accurate and complete production records.
• Follow established clean room protocols, including proper gowning and handling procedures, to maintain a controlled and contamination-free environment.
• Collaborate directly with technicians and other team members in a new product development area to support prototype and full build activities.
• Complete full builds of pacemakers, catheters, or both, as required, demonstrating a high level of skill and independence in assembly work.
• Perform final packaging of products, ensuring correct labeling, documentation, and readiness for shipment or further processing.
• Communicate clearly with team members and leadership to report issues, request clarification on instructions, and support continuous improvement.
• Adhere to all safety, quality, and regulatory guidelines associated with medical device assembly and clean room operations.

• 3–5+ years of assembly and/or manufacturing experience in the medical device industry.
• Experience working in a clean room environment with medical device assembly processes.
• Ability to read and understand work orders, travelers, and production drawings, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency documenting work in travelers, QMS systems, or ERP systems with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Demonstrated hand dexterity and fine motor skills to work with very small components, including parts assembled under a microscope.
• Patience, diligence, and focus when performing repetitive, detail-oriented assembly tasks.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Ability to perform visual inspections and identify defects or nonconformances in assemblies.
• Capability to use small hand tools safely and effectively in precision assembly work.

• 1+ year of experience with soldering or welding in a manufacturing or assembly environment is preferred.
• Experience assembling pacemakers, IPGs, catheters, guidewires, or other medical device components in a clean room setting.
• Familiarity with microscope-based assembly and inspection processes.
• Comfort working in a new product development environment, including collaboration with technicians and cross-functional teams.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and adapt to evolving processes and product designs.
• Reliability in meeting production schedules and maintaining high quality standards.

The role is based in a clean, state-of-the-art facility with a dedicated clean room for medical device assembly and a well-equipped break room for employees. Positions are available at level 2 and 3, with consideration for level 4 roles on first shift. The standard first shift schedule runs Monday through Thursday from 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., including a 30-minute paid break, a 30-minute unpaid lunch, and an additional 15-minute paid break. Work involves regular use of microscopes, clean room gowning and protocols, and handling of small medical device components and hand tools in a controlled environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Minneapolis, MN.

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $26.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
