Reporting to the Corporation Senior Financial Analyst, the Financial Analyst is responsible for assisting with the analysis of complex financial data and preparation of periodic forecasts, budgets and narrative reports to support effective management and decision-making across the operations. Equivalent to a bachelor's degree with a major in finance, accounting, business administration, economics, public administration, or a closely related field AND four (4) years of progressively responsible professional experience in accounting and/or finance experience preferably in a non-profit, education or governmental organization;

POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Corporation Senior Financial Analyst, the Financial Analyst is responsible for assisting with the analysis of complex financial data and preparation of periodic forecasts, budgets and narrative reports to support effective management and decision-making across the operations. Examples of Duties ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Interface with managers in monitoring and analyzing organization-wide earned revenue, operating expenses and capital project activity.
- Extract and interpret financial data from various accounting and information systems for both management and departments.
- Support the preparation and coordination of the annual external audit, including compiling schedules, responding to auditor requests, and ensuring timely completion.
- Prepare and review quarterly financial statements and supporting documentation.
- Record and reconcile bond and debt-related transactions, including related compliance reporting as required.
- Prepare and maintain lease accounting entries in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
- Prepare complex statistical, cost, and financial analyses and narrative of financial results (including investments) for management.
- Assist with long range planning and analysis and trend reporting for various Corporation areas.
- Assist in the organization's annual budget process via preparation, training, and communication efforts.
- Partner with department leaders to improve budget accountability.
- Ensure Federal government, university/CSU and other third party economic/financial surveys and informational filings (including the 990) are prepared and submitted timely.
- Provide recommendations and assist with implementation to improve financial systems and reporting tools.
- Provide coordination and training on Finance Data Warehouse and PeopleSoft to staff.
- Prepare high-level financial dashboards and board presentation materials
- Support development and maintenance of internal financial controls
- Develop financial models for new programs, capital projects, and growth initiatives.
- Assist with the development and implementation of accounting procedures.
- Assist with University Corporation cost allocation or cost recovery calculations, reports and tracking.
- Assist with various payroll analysis and reconciliations.
- Provide financial backup for capital projects including forecasting and tracking, as requested.
- Monitor, track, analyze, report cash flow and requirements and reserve allocations.
OTHER FUNCTIONS
- Assist in other areas of Corporation accounting and finance as needed.
- Promotes and maintains an atmosphere of excellent customer service within the accounting department, the campus community, and public.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Strong knowledge of GAAP, GASB and practices involving governmental and non-profit organizations.
- Ability to understand, apply and analyze data and documents for GAAP, GASB, office methods and procedures, applicable rules and regulations, policies and procedures, and statistical and arithmetic presentation of data.
- Advanced technical skills with accounting enterprise systems, reporting, complex spreadsheets, databases, query tools, pivot tables, and use of MS Office products.
