Day Camp Coordinator - Riverhead, NY

Day Camp Coordinator Responsible for planning, supervising, and coordinating programs and staff at DPF 4-H Camp, a residential summer camp in Riverhead, NY. Key Responsibilities Supervise assigned staff and campers, provide counseling and mentorship to staff for job success. Assist with camper supervision, including dealing with behavior issues and ensuring camper well‑being. Design and implement weekly, afternoon, evening, and weekend programs, using research‑based 4-H curriculum. Support the Camp Director in implementing and maintaining cabin, activity, and class schedules. Provide guidance to counselors regarding special‑needs campers, conflict mediation, and special concerns. Create developmentally appropriate leadership training programs for various ages and skill levels. Assist in staff in‑service training and pre‑camp counseling preparation. Monitor program safety, enforce health and safety standards, supervise meals, recreation, swim, and free time. Maintain program area inventory, equipment, and supplies; oversee maintenance and repair requests. Collect and review daily cabin reports, mediate conflicts, and coordinate additional resources as needed. Assist in the supervision of campers during all camp activities, ensuring consistency with camp standards. Provide support for campers’ participation in all camp activities and programs. Implement health and safety policies, identify hazards, and act proactively to prevent accidents. Engage in orientation, staff meetings, and required training events; develop a professional development plan. Required Qualifications Minimum age 18 years. Current CPR and First Aid certifications (will support re‑certification if necessary). Experience supervising campers and staff in a camp or structured environment. Willingness and ability to live at DPF 4-H Camp throughout the session, including overnight stays. Ability to travel as required and work flexible hours, evenings, and weekends. Preferred Qualifications Minimum age 21 years. Experience in leadership roles or education field. Demonstrated ability to teach and mentor staff and campers of all ages. Previous camp staff experience. Strong character, integrity, adaptability, and a sense of humor. Patience and self‑control. Position Details Exempt, full‑time (100% FTE).
