Manufacturing Batching/Blending Tech

The Role

Every batch sets the quality bar for everything that follows. As a Manufacturing Batching Tech, you are the hands-on expert who executes batch formulations with precision, operates mixing and blending equipment, verifies raw material specifications, and maintains complete batch documentation. Your attention to detail and commitment to process discipline directly impact the quality and consistency of products leaving our facility.

This hands-on role combines precise ingredient measurement, equipment operation, batch tracking, and quality collaboration. You'll receive and verify raw materials, follow batch formulations and work instructions, operate mixing and blending equipment, manage batch scheduling and timing, complete batch documentation, and work proactively with Production, Quality, and Sanitation teams. Your goal is to prepare every batch correctly so production runs smoothly and products meet specifications.

What You'll Do

Raw Material Handling & Verification

• Receive and inspect incoming raw materials; verify condition, packaging integrity, and specification compliance before use
• Cross-reference materials against batch formulations; flag discrepancies or quality concerns immediately
• Store materials in designated locations with proper labeling, expiration tracking, and environmental controls

Batch Preparation & Mixing

• Follow approved batch formulations and work instructions precisely; retrieve all required raw materials and verify specifications before use
• Weigh all ingredients using calibrated scales; verify weights are within tolerance and document immediately in batch records
• Operate mixing, blending, and processing equipment according to SOPs; monitor cycle times, temperatures, and mixing parameters throughout the batch
• Identify and escalate equipment issues, unusual sounds, or parameter deviations to the Production Supervisor immediately

Equipment & Facility Management

• Maintain batch equipment cleanliness between runs; 
• Coordinate with Sanitation teams on changeover cleanings and allergen control; verify clean-out procedures are complete before new batch begins
• Report equipment malfunctions, clogs, or maintenance needs to Maintenance and the Production Supervisor; support troubleshooting when appropriate

Batch Documentation & Traceability

• Complete all batch documentation accurately and on time—ingredient logs, weight verification, mixing parameters, timelines, and batch records
• Ensure complete traceability—link raw materials to lot numbers, assign unique batch identifiers, maintain accurate batch tracking
• Verify all batch data is legible and complete before batch approval; flag any missing documentation or discrepancies to the Production Supervisor

Quality & Process Compliance

• Follow all batch SOPs, work instructions, and process specifications; escalate deviations or concerns rather than improvise
• Work with Quality teams on batch release decisions, testing coordination, and any specification questions
• Report any batch issues—ingredient discrepancies, weight concerns, equipment problems, or documentation gaps—to the Production Supervisor immediately
• Support audit readiness by maintaining organized batch records and documentation

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Communicate with Production teams about batch readiness, timelines, and any impacts to the production schedule
• Collaborate with Sanitation on equipment cleanliness and changeover requirements; work together on allergen control and pre-op verification
• Partner with Maintenance on equipment performance and any technical support needed during batch operations

What You'll Bring

• 1–3+ years of batching, mixing, or blending experience in food, beverage, or manufacturing environments
• Hands-on experience weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients; familiarity with batch processing equipment operation
• Working knowledge of batch documentation, traceability requirements, and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices)
• Excellent attention to detail—you catch discrepancies, verify weights, and notice inconsistencies that others miss
• Ability to read and follow batch formulations and work instructions precisely; comfortable escalating deviations or concerns
• Basic mathematical skills—confident weighing, calculating yields, verifying batch calculations
• Comfort performing repetitive, precise work with sustained focus over a full shift
• Ability to work flexibly across shifts, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays as production schedules require
• Clear communication skills—able to document findings, report issues, and collaborate with Production, Quality, and Sanitation teams
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods, work in temperature-variable environments, and lift/move materials and equipment
• Proficiency with basic computer tools for data entry and batch documentation; experience with manufacturing systems a plus
• Willingness to take ownership of batch quality and process discipline—you understand that precision in batching prevents problems downstream
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
