General Accountant

Pay Range: $27.81 - $38.62 Responsible for consortium-wide accounting and reporting for Southeast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC) and its subsidiaries. Provides general support to all financial audits and accounting functions, streamlines processes, reduces procurement costs, and eliminates non‑value‑added activities. Supports aspects of the annual budget and financial reporting. SEARHC is a non‑profit health consortium serving the residents of Southeast Alaska. Key Responsibilities Act as a collaborative member of the finance team, ensuring effective communication of financial activities. Work with corporate departments such as Compliance, Information Systems, Legal, and others to provide support services. Control expenses without compromising quality. Ensure the integrity of key financial reporting systems, including fixed assets. Support financial operations for the integration of new business units and the implementation of new technologies. Collaborate with stakeholders to improve end‑user experience with accounting processes, including grants and fixed assets. Lead the annual external audit, compiling schedules for fixed assets and grant expenditures. Prepare monthly financial reports in a timely and accurate manner. Maintain reporting of general accounting, grant accounting, fixed asset accounting, and patient revenue accounting. Assist with all annual audits, including the financial statement audit. Work with the Accounting Manager to establish policies, procedures, and internal controls. Develop and lead the fixed asset tracking process, ensuring proper cost tracking, performance, and reporting. Lead a culture of continuous improvement. Participate in month‑end financial activities, including patient revenue accounting, grant revenue accounting, and reconciliation of subsidiary modules. Communicate responsibilities in a manner that supports SEARHC’s mission, vision, goals, and objectives. Develop strong, values‑based relationships with external auditors, reimbursement consultants, bank representatives, investment advisors, actuaries, vendors, community affiliations, tribal organizations, consultants, and other financial stakeholders. Impact budget creation and execution, financial policy direction, reporting, and regulatory interpretation across the Consortium. Interact with the SEARHC Board of Directors and all levels of leadership and employees. Participate in key strategic and tactical projects and initiatives assigned by the Director/Controller. Perform other duties as assigned. Education, Certifications, and Licenses • Bachelor’s degree required. • Degree concentration in Accounting, Finance, or Economics preferred. Experience At least one year of experience in a healthcare or accounting setting, preferably with healthcare, tribal, or non‑profit clients. Experience with general fixed asset accounting. Experience in financial reporting, including grant reporting and financial analysis. Experience serving internal customers.
