Bard High School Early College Bronx Dean of Students Apply Here: Bard Early Colleges are founded on the belief that many high-school–age students are eager and ready for the intellectual challenges of a college education. Bard Early Colleges act on this belief by providing younger scholars with a tuition‑free, credit‑bearing college course of study in the liberal arts and sciences following the 9th and 10th grades. Students are taught by college faculty in seminar classes; they receive up to 60 college credits and an associate in arts (A.A.) degree from Bard College alongside a high school diploma. Now in its second decade, the Bard Early College network includes campuses in Brooklyn, the Bronx, Manhattan and Queens, New York City; Hudson, New York, New Orleans, Louisiana; Newark, New Jersey; Cleveland, Ohio; Baltimore, Maryland and Washington, D.C. Responsibilities The Dean of Students is expected to collaborate with the Bard Early College school leader and other administrators, and the larger school staff; and to teach one class each semester. Candidates should be eager to work in an innovative and academically rigorous school setting; they should be practical and flexible and should be advocates for liberal arts education. Because the Dean must communicate effectively to a variety of audiences, excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as tact and sensitivity in dealing with students, staff, faculty, parents and the wider community are required. A deep commitment to the school is expected.
