Compensation The starting pay range for this position per hour is $21.25 - $23.25. The full pay range for this position per hour is $21.25 - $36.15. Pay is based on labor markets and may consider education, work experience, and certifications. Job Overview The Small Format Team Leader is responsible for delivering a guest‑first culture in Target’s smallest format stores. The role requires operational proficiency, a passion for customer service, and the ability to manage people and processes to meet sales and guest engagement goals. Responsibilities Consistently deliver guest experience commitments, creating an easy, inspiring, and friendly guest experience. Ensure every team member understands, is trained, and consistently delivers on Target’s guest experience commitments and operations. Observe and provide feedback, holding team members accountable while recognizing great guest experience moments. Review area guest, financial, and team outcome metrics to identify opportunities, take action to improve, and align the team on the right behaviors and execution. Understand sales goals, plan daily/weekly workload, and execute to deliver on department and store sales goals and guest engagement. Demonstrate a service culture that prioritizes the guest service experience and model, train, and coach team members on expectations. Ensure products are in stock, available, accurately priced, and signed on the sales floor; manage inventory accuracy and execute product arrangement, pricing, and promotional signing processes. Assign daily tasks to team members based on planned workload and guest traffic patterns, ensuring alignment with weekly and monthly priorities. Assist team members in backroom and sales floor areas, review reporting to identify gaps, and develop plans to resolve them. Lead pick, pack, and ship fulfillment work, as applicable for the location. Evaluate candidates for open positions, develop a guest‑centric team, and participate in onboarding and learning. Close knowledge and skill gaps through training and experiences; establish clear goals and hold team members accountable. Demonstrate inclusivity by valuing diverse voices, being authentic and respectful, and creating equitable experiences. Lead a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance; model safe behaviors, correct hazards, and assist with incident response. Execute physical security processes to enhance the in‑store security culture and support merchandise protection strategies. Assume store‑level leadership on duty (LOD) responsibilities to enable the guest experience during assigned shifts. Address all store emergency and compliance needs and support guest services such as back‑up cashier, order pick‑up (OPU), and drive‑up (DU). Perform all other duties as needed based on business needs. Qualifications At least 18 years of age or older. High school diploma or equivalent. Previous retail experience preferred, but not required. Leadership skills: lead and hold others accountable. Tech proficiency: learn and adapt to current technology needs; operate handheld scanners and other equipment. Independent and teamwork abilities: work independently and as part of a team; manage workload and prioritize tasks. Excellent communication skills and a welcoming, helpful attitude toward guests and team members. Ability to remain focused and composed in a fast‑paced environment. Capability to handle cash register operations accurately and to access all building areas. Physical ability to climb ladders, scan, handle, and move merchandise up to 15 pounds frequently, and up to 44 pounds occasionally without assistance. Flexible work schedule: nights, weekends, holidays, closing shifts, and peak times. Ability to work in varying temperatures, humidity, and other environmental conditions.
