KORE1, a nationwide provider of staffing and recruiting solutions, has an immediate opening for a fully remote Payroll Manager. This job is about 30 hours per week. Position Overview We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Payroll Manager to oversee full-cycle payroll operations for a multi-state workforce. This role requires strong expertise in payroll compliance, particularly in California and New York, as well as experience managing exempt and non-exempt employees across multiple payroll cycles. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, compliance-focused, and capable of partnering effectively with HR, Finance, and Accounting teams to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage full-cycle payroll processing for employees across approximately 10 states, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Process payroll for both exempt and non-exempt employees, including overtime, shift differentials, bonuses, commissions, and other compensation adjustments.
• Administer four regular payroll cycles per month, while maintaining strict payroll deadlines and audit controls.
• Handle California final pay requirements and off-cycle termination payrolls in compliance with state wage payment laws and timelines.
• Process quarterly bonus and commission payments, including validation, tax treatment, reporting, and reconciliation.
• Support benefits administration activities, including payroll deductions, benefit enrollments, and coordination with benefits vendors.
• Ensure payroll tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions, including payroll tax filings, reconciliations, quarter-end and year-end reporting, and resolution of tax-related issues.
• Maintain payroll records, documentation, and internal controls in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate closely with HR, Finance, and Accounting teams to support employee lifecycle events, compensation changes, audits, and payroll-related reporting needs.
• Serve as a subject matter expert for payroll-related inquiries, providing guidance to employees, managers, and business partners.
• Identify opportunities for payroll process improvements, automation, and operational efficiencies.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive payroll experience, including experience managing full-cycle payroll in a multi-state environment.
• Strong knowledge of payroll laws and regulations, with specific expertise in California and New York payroll compliance.
• Experience processing payroll for both exempt and non-exempt employees.
• Demonstrated experience managing multiple payroll cycles and off-cycle payroll processing.
• Proficiency in Paylocity is required.
• Solid understanding of payroll tax compliance, reporting, and reconciliation processes.
• Experience supporting benefits administration and payroll-related accounting functions.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information with discretion.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with payroll audits and process optimization initiatives.
• Familiarity with multi-state payroll operations in a high-growth or complex organizational environment.
• CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) certification is a plus.
