Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

This position specializes in supporting students with unique needs in a self-contained classroom setting for grades 3-6. You’ll work closely with a small group of 5-6 students, with possible growth to 8 by year's end, and will have the support of 1-2 aides to help you create an engaging, inclusive learning environment.

This school is welcoming to traveling teachers, and reciprocity for Alabama certification typically takes about 6 weeks—making it essential for interested candidates to move swiftly. Local educators will be required to participate in an on-site interview.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Current Alabama Special Education certification (or eligibility with out-of-state credentials, anticipating 6-week reciprocity)
• Proven experience in special education, ideally within a self-contained classroom for elementary grades
• Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
• Commitment to cultivating a supportive, adaptive classroom climate
• Comfort working alongside classroom aides and other support staff

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver individualized instruction and develop IEPs for each student
• Collaborate with aides, general education staff, and families to foster student progress
• Monitor, assess, and document student goals and achievements
• Establish a safe and supportive environment that encourages participation and growth
• Effectively manage classroom behavior and implement intervention strategies as needed
