Staff Accountant

Staff AccountantThe Staff Accountant is a member of the Grand America Hotels and Resorts Accounting team that oversees the accounting and financial operations for multiple hotels. This position will focus on assisting the Cluster Director of Finance and Assistant Director of Finance in accurate and timely financial reporting, process improvement, and collaborative team building in the accounting department, as well as inter-departmentally.Key Responsibilities:Maintain detailed and accurate reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts for Grand and Little America Salt Lake City hotels.Reconcile intercompany worksheets to general ledger accounts.Assist with month end and year end close.Interact with external and internal auditors to respond to information requestsProvide direct assistance and support in sales and use tax filingsIdentify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and assist in implementing best practices to enhance efficiencyMaintain strong internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure financial integrityPerform daily cash and credit card transaction reconciliations.Provide support for posting and applying payments and maintaining key accounts within property systems.Ad-hoc responsibilities assigned by managementQualifications:Bachelor's degree in accounting; 3–5+ years of progressive accounting experience preferred with hotel accounting experience required.Comprehensive understanding of GAAP, USALI and audit principlesSolid Understanding of office etiquette, procedures and equipmentStrong oral and written communication skillsGood analytical and critical thinking skillsExcellent interpersonal skills to interact with other staff and senior managementDetail oriented and adaptable with a commitment to accuracy and excellenceProficient with Microsoft Office SuiteKnowledge of Sun Systems, Coupa, UKG is a plus
