Litigation Associate | 1–10+ Years' Experience

Location: Orange County, CA (Hybrid / Remote Considered)

Compensation: Competitive Salary (DOE) + Performance Bonus

Billable Requirement: 2,000 Hours

A highly regarded national litigation firm is seeking a Litigation Associate to join its expanding Orange County office. Due to continued growth and an increasing volume of complex litigation, the firm is looking to appoint an experienced attorney to handle a high-quality caseload of sophisticated defense matters.

This opportunity offers exposure to complex, high-value litigation alongside experienced litigators within a collaborative and entrepreneurial team. The firm is continuing to grow and expects additional hiring as the practice expands.

The Role

The successful candidate will manage a varied caseload of complex litigation matters, primarily focused on general liability and commercial insurance defense , while also gaining exposure to a range of private client commercial disputes.

Cases regularly involve significant financial exposure and challenging legal issues, providing excellent experience for attorneys looking to develop their litigation careers.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of approximately 10–15 litigation files from inception through resolution
\n
• Handle all stages of litigation, including pleadings, written discovery, depositions, motion practice, mediations, and court appearances
\n
• Work closely with partners on high-exposure and catastrophic loss matters
\n
• Maintain regular communication with clients, insurers, experts, and opposing counsel
\n
• Develop litigation strategy and manage files efficiently while meeting billable expectations
\n

Requirements

\n
• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
\n
• Active membership in good standing with the California State Bar
\n
• Approximately 1–10+ years' litigation experience (strong candidates outside this range will also be considered)
\n
• Previous insurance defense or civil litigation experience preferred
\n
• Strong drafting, advocacy, analytical, and client communication skills
\n
• Ability to independently manage complex litigation matters while working collaboratively within a team
\n
