World Bicycle Relief mobilizes communities in rural regions around the world to thrive with life-changing bicycles. We partner with communities to expand access to education, markets, healthcare and other essential services. World Bicycle Relief uses an innovative business model to create sustainable bicycle ecosystems. Through World Bicycle Relief's 501(c)3, we provide transport solutions to those who cannot afford them, and through Buffalo Bicycle Ltd, we sell the rugged Buffalo Bicycle and spare parts. Buffalo Bicycle Ltd also offers users repair and maintenance services via a retail network of shops and local mechanics. World Bicycle Relief has distributed over 1,000,000 fit-for-purpose bicycles and trained 4,000+ community-based mechanics. Girls with Buffalo Bicycles are 19% less likely to drop out of school; business owners see 53% more revenue; and health workers serve 63% more households.

Purpose of the Position

The Development Coordinator is central to driving and expanding World Bicycle Relief's development and advocacy work in the UK through the delivery of events and communications, helping mobilize more people through the Power of Bicycles.

Working closely with the UK team, Global Events Manager, leadership team, and other colleagues, the role provides high-level coordination and administrative support across strategic priorities and external engagement, principally events and communications supporting WBR's developing influencing and advocacy strategy in the UK.

The role will support high-profile activities including WBR's presence at Skoll World Forum, London Climate Action Week, and events around the G20 summit in the UK. It will also help identify opportunities with external partners, undertake market analysis, build a network of contacts, and ensure compelling information about WBR's work is shared effectively.

Job Responsibilities

Events Coordination and Delivery

Provide end-to-end operational support for specific UK events, including liaising with venues, partners, and suppliers; obtaining quotes; coordinating travel and logistics; working with production teams; preparing materials; producing risk assessments; and creating event documentation such as briefs, schedules, and post-event evaluations.

Represent WBR UK at events, including acting as an Event Day Lead. Recruit and manage volunteers supporting events and prepare and maintain related volunteer documentation and records.

Communications, Advocacy, and Partnerships

Draft communications and materials to support advocacy and partnerships, working with internal and external suppliers as required. Maintain a database of UK journalists, agencies, and other organizations relevant to WBR's advocacy and partnerships work, and liaise with them as needed.

Build and maintain relationships with key organizations and individuals in the UK influencing and advocacy space, including funding partners, and support opportunities for collaboration, events, and external engagement.

Research and Stakeholder Analysis

Undertake market and stakeholder analysis to build business intelligence across influencing and fundraising. Identify relevant trends, organizations, networks, events, and opportunities that can inform WBR's events, communications, advocacy, and partnership activity in the UK.

Reporting, Data, and Administrative Support

Support the creation of reports, trackers, and dashboards across the events portfolio using the CRM, ensuring high-quality data management. Provide oversight and follow-up of communications channels, including email inboxes, voice mailboxes, incoming mail, and packages.

Requirements

1 to 3 years of relevant experience.

Experience coordinating and delivering events, ideally involving external stakeholders, senior audiences, or high-profile partners.

Experience working across communications, events, partnerships, or advocacy/influencing activity.

Experience building and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders and partners, with the confidence to engage with a wide range of organizations and individuals.

Experience identifying and developing opportunities for collaboration, events, and external engagement.

Experience undertaking research and market or sector analysis to identify relevant trends, organizations, networks, events, and opportunities.

Experience producing or coordinating high-quality communications and engagement materials and adapting messages for different audiences and channels.

Strong project management, organization, and attention to detail, with experience working across multiple projects and stakeholders.

Experience working with senior colleagues and external stakeholders, including preparing briefings, agendas, background information, and follow-up communications.

Ability to represent an organization externally and communicate its purpose, evidence, and impact clearly and compellingly.

Preferred

Experience in the charity, international development, sustainability, or a related sector.

Experience working with high-profile events, senior audiences, advocacy organizations, funders, or external partners.

Experience developing and maintaining networks of contacts and using relationships to create opportunities and amplify organizational messages.
