Sr. System Administrator (31279)

GI Alliance is seeking an experienced Sr. System Administrator. This role is NOT remote; the position is 80% in the office on-premises. The System Administrator will provide advanced technical support and administration of Enterprise‑class storage, security, network, communication, and virtualization environments both hosted legacy on‑premise and in Microsoft Azure as well as hold vendor specific certifications. Responsibilities Work closely with the management to gather input, diagnose root causes, and resolve problems. Document processes to standardize and streamline end user experience. Proactively communicate with management throughout the problem resolution process. Interface with executives, engineers, and vendor technical support resources. Maintain hybrid server infrastructure on-premise and in Azure and assist in root‑cause analysis of any system issues. Assist in developing a disaster recovery plan, assist in testing the plan and update documentation as needed. Implement and maintain various methods of identity, security, and authentication methods (SSO, MFA, conditional access). Administer, integrate, and secure Azure Tenant functions (including Office 365, Intune, Purview, Identity and Security) to maintain a single uniform communication platform. Recommend and justify any upgrades to infrastructure and systems. Management, monitoring, and deployment of VMware, Nutanix, Azure and storage assets along with Cohesity and Azure backup solutions. Build, implement, and document new servers according to industry best practices either on‑premises or within Azure. Document data flows between internal and external environments. Participate in ongoing certification and training opportunities. Provide mentoring and leadership to team members as appropriate. On‑call coverage as needed. Maintain and provide appropriate access to SQL instances. Windows server and Linux administration/troubleshooting. Group policy administration/troubleshooting. Develop and automate tasks using various scripting languages (PowerShell and Graph +). Mimecast email security administration. Modify and maintain public and internal DNS records. Manage delegated permissions. Manage clustered resources. Understanding of software architecture and hardware interaction. Manage a load‑balanced Windows RDS environment. Solid understanding of network protocols. Environment onboarding and consolidation. Perform other duties as assigned. Design and deploy scalable, secure, and resilient Azure cloud infrastructure. Manage Azure services including VMs, App Services, Azure Functions, Azure AD, Key Vault, and Storage. Monitor and optimize cloud performance, cost, and security. Automate deployment and configuration processes using PowerShell, CLI, or DevOps pipelines. Collaborate with development, security, and operations teams to support cloud‑native applications. Ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory standards. Provide support and troubleshooting for cloud‑related issues. Stay current with Azure updates and best practices. Education Diploma from college or vocational school; or equivalence of education and work experience. Azure and Microsoft Cloud (i.e., Azure AD, O365) experience. Certifications Microsoft Servers/Engineer certification and / or VMware certification. Experience Four (8) + years providing hardware/system admin support; supervisory experience required. Additional Qualifications Experience with Spiceworks or similar Help Desk software required. Excellent people skills. Experience with security, virtualization, storage software and hardware products. Experience supporting or troubleshooting in an IT environment (server, application, or infrastructure). Solid understanding of Windows Server Products, Unix, and Linux operating systems. Proven ability to diagnose, resolve, and document technical support issues. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Positive, customer‑centric approach. Working experience in systems administration or internal IT support. Must have valid drivers license and auto insurance; own transportation.
