Industrial Journeyman Electrician (or 3rd Year Apprentice) (Barwick)

Responsibilities Promotes, adheres to, and contributes to plant safety programs and ensures compliance with best maintenance practices. Safely operates and tests energized electrical systems. Works with little supervision to perform a variety of tasks involved in the provision of E&I services, internal customer service, and reporting. Reads and interprets drawings, blueprints, schematics and electrical code specifications to determine the layout of industrial electrical equipment installations. Installs, examines, replaces or repairs electrical wiring, switchgear, transformers, reactors, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, fibre‑optic and coaxial cable assemblies, lighting fixtures and other electrical components. Uses required equipment, including hand tools, calibrators, and electrical test equipment, including multi‑meters to test electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage and resistance. Troubleshoots, maintains, repairs, calibrates, tests and installs electrical motors, alternators, industrial storage batteries, and hydraulic and pneumatic electrical control systems and other related devices, including but not limited to pressure, flow, temperature and safety monitoring devices. Conducts preventive maintenance and keeps maintenance records. Evaluates processes for improved quality, cost‑effectiveness and potential growth. Qualifications A valid Inter‑Provincial or Provincial Journeyperson Electrician certification. Individuals who are in their 3rd year or close to completing their journeyman requirements will also be considered. Valid Driver’s License. Robust computer proficiency required, namely the ability to operate a variety of electronic and microcomputer instruments used to measure and control variables such as pressure, flow, temperature, and level. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work shift work including days, nights and/or weekends. Ability to work at heights. A positive attitude, ability to work safely, mechanical aptitude, problem‑solving skills, and willingness to learn. Compensation The hourly pay rate for this position is 50.32/hr.
