Project Manager, Construction Management Stantec’s Colorado Construction Management Group seeks a highly motivated Project Manager with strong heavy‑civil transportation construction experience. This role offers flexibility to be based anywhere in Colorado. Your Opportunity The Project Manager monitors and reports on work executed by construction contractors and subcontractors, ensuring alignment with the construction contract. The manager leads a team comprising project controls, construction inspectors, and administration staff. Responsibilities also include pre‑construction support, advising clients on risks and remedial actions, and leading construction execution planning activities such as communications management, reporting, change management, scheduling, quality, risk, material, environmental, regulatory permitting, and logistics. Your Key Responsibilities Provide construction management leadership to the project team in support of the client. Act as Stantec’s lead employee on a contract providing CM oversight services to a government agency. Manage a diverse group of employees and subcontractors to execute the contract. Make recommendations on remedial actions for client approval; no independent decision authority. Lead Health and Safety by developing and implementing a project‑specific safety plan; monitor contractor compliance with HSE requirements. Oversee multiple concurrent projects. Apply sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovation to solve complex problems. Participate in and collaborate with the project team; communicate ideas, design issues, and solutions effectively. Prepare and coordinate project deliverables and documents including reports, cost and schedule reporting, specification reviews, and engineering document production. Monitor contractor work for compliance with schedule, budget, technical specifications, and legal requirements. Examine field conditions as required to support project development and completion. Review contractor requests for change and assist with preparing contract change orders or modifications. Your Capabilities and Credentials Valid driver’s license. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Primavera skills are desirable. OSHA certification preferred. Technical expertise in relevant areas of design and construction, with understanding of various methods. Comprehensive knowledge of construction management practices, costs, scheduling, estimating, purchasing, and engineering principles. Strong client relationship building and maintenance skills. Understanding of legal design and construction requirements for public works contracts. In-depth knowledge and interpretation of code compliance requirements and industry standards. Ability to read, understand, and interpret engineering contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and project schedule. Your Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (non‑technical degrees considered based on experience). Professional Engineer (PE) registered in Colorado required, or ability to obtain within 6 months. Minimum 10 years of heavy‑civil transportation construction experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. Colorado Department of Transportation or local agency project experience as Project Engineer or Assistant Project Engineer preferred. Additional Information Work will involve office time and long‑term field assignments on construction sites, with exposure to elements. The role may require sedentary office work and occasional outdoor duties. Locations in CO, HI, IL, MD & various CA, NJ areas – $117,800.00–$176,800.00 annually.
