Production Scheduler I

Apogee Architectural Metals Position Summary The Production Scheduler I will provide/conduct daily production scheduling activities that supports sales and operations planning while maximizing labor usage and ensuring a high level of customer service. Work with manufacturing leaders to ensure optimal schedule levels in accordance with plant capacity and key performance indicators. This position serves as a key cross‑functional link between multiple Operations Campuses, ensuring seamless coordination and execution of production activities. Key Responsibilities Production Planning & Scheduling Sequence production orders for production floor onto daily schedule. Ensure materials are available for planned schedule and plan shipping requirements to meet scheduled ship dates. Review upcoming schedules and determine action to fill and/or balance jobs to fall within production capacity. Monitor the current day's schedule for updates and evaluate changes needed for priorities of work. Batch orders into production jobs to initial start dates for production lines. Release batched jobs to production schedules. Review various planning reports to understand and calculate future demand and actions to be taken to accommodate customer needs. Move jobs on schedule when necessary, watching ship dates. Process production order changes. Schedule DMR (Damaged Material Report) notifications from operations for replacement of damaged material. Communication & Coordination Collaborate closely, in person or via email, with on‑site managers and supervisors, production floor and client services to ensure timely schedule requirements. Process Optimization Maintain a working knowledge of the full production lifecycle, from order entry through shipping. Implement proactive improvement of processes and procedures to maximize capacity and improve key metrics and customer satisfaction. Experience & Skills Education High School diploma or equivalent. Experience Experience in a manufacturing office environment preferred. Technical Proficiency Familiarity with ERP systems (strong knowledge of Epicor preferred). Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook. Communication Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to negotiate priorities across departments. Supply Chain Knowledge Understanding of lean manufacturing principles, inventory management, logistics (material flow), and demand forecasting. Work Environment/Travel Requirements Mostly an office environment with occasional visits to the manufacturing floor (proper PPE must be worn on manufacturing floor).
