Cardiac PCU Registered Nurse (RN)

The Cardiac PCU Registered Nurse (RN) will provide specialized care for patients in a stepdown cardiac unit. This role requires expertise in managing complex cardiac conditions and postoperative care for heart surgery patients.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide care for patients with myocardial infarction, primary arrhythmias, and those pre/post open-heart surgery.
• Monitor and manage patients with vascular surgery needs and coronary artery disease.
• Administer therapeutic treatments including breathing treatments, chest tube care, and blood/blood product administration.
• Conduct telemetry interpretation, including dysrhythmia management.
• Perform cardioversion, defibrillation, and epicardial pacer management.
• Manage care for patients with specialized structural heart support such as LVAD and TAVR.
• Ensure compliance with sternal precautions and provide tracheostomy care.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience.
• Experience in surgical telemetry, including open heart surgery and vascular care.
• Proficient in IV skills and NIH stroke assessment.
• Strong knowledge of telemetry with 2-3 years of relevant experience.
• Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS.
• Epic experience is a mandatory requirement.

Additional Information

• Floating to like units is required; flexibility is essential.
• Every other weekend availability is mandatory.
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1:4 and can be 1:5 during specific shifts.
