Senior Tax Associate

Job Description

A Professional Services Firm based in New York City is seeking an experienced tax professional to join their team as a Tax Senior Associate.

Responsibilities:

\n
• Oversee tax compliance, planning, and advisory engagements for individuals, business owners, and related entities.
\n
• Advise clients on complex tax matters, developing strategies that align with their financial and business objectives.
\n
• Manage client relationships and engagement delivery, ensuring technical accuracy, timely completion, and responsive service.
\n
• Review tax work, resolve technical issues, and ensure adherence to applicable regulations and internal quality standards.
\n
• Lead and develop tax professionals through coaching, technical guidance, performance feedback, and career development.
\n
• Manage engagement budgets, staffing, and workflow to support efficient execution and profitability.
\n
• Coordinate engagement scoping, client onboarding, billing, and resource planning with internal stakeholders.
\n
• Collaborate with leadership to establish practice priorities and improve service delivery.
\n
• Identify opportunities to strengthen processes, apply technology, and improve the quality and efficiency of tax services.
\n

Qualifications:

\n
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
\n
• 2–6+ years of tax experience within a midsized public accounting firm.
\n
• Experience preparing and reviewing tax returns for corporations, partnerships, and/or high-net-worth individuals.
\n
• Strong understanding of federal and state tax compliance requirements and tax research principles.
\n
• Ability to identify tax planning opportunities and assist with resolving client tax matters.
\n
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines.
\n
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, client-focused approach.
\n
• CPA designation or progress toward licensure is a plus.
