Accounting Manager

We're partnering with a long-established, privately owned California company seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of its Accounting department. About the Role This is a leadership-first opportunity. You'll manage a team of approximately 15 direct reports across Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Billing while helping improve processes, strengthen accountability, and support a collaborative workplace culture. Responsibilities Lead and develop a team of approximately 15 accounting professionals Manage the AP, AR, and Billing departments Coordinate the monthly close process and ensure deadlines are consistently met Coach, mentor, and develop employees through regular feedback and performance evaluations Improve accounting workflows, documentation, and internal controls Partner with leadership to increase efficiency across the department Assist with reconciliations, reporting, and accounting operations Help prepare the organization for future ERP upgrades and process improvements Foster a collaborative, positive, and accountable culture Qualifications 5+ years of progressive accounting experience Previous experience managing accounting teams Strong understanding of month-end close and accrual accounting Experience supervising multiple direct reports ERP experience required Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred CPA is a plus, but not required Required Skills Strong people leadership Experience managing operational accounting teams A calm, collaborative leadership style The ability to improve processes while maintaining a positive culture Preferred Skills Industry experience within distribution, manufacturing, logistics, wholesale, or petroleum is a plus - but not required.
