Product Development R&D Engineer - Refrigeration

Summary: To enhance our primary focus of developing innovative and high-quality refrigeration products for the US and Canada markets, we are seeking a creative, motivated, and energetic engineer to create, design, and lead engineering projects. The primary expectation is the execution of projects resulting in unique, innovative and compelling new features for Midea branded refrigeration products. This is a full-time position. Some international travel is required including minimum once per year trip to China.

• Utilizes innovation idea generation activities to convert ideas to concepts.
• Develop technology to expand intellectual property portfolio for refrigeration products.
• Research new technologies for inspiration to develop features and enhancements for refrigeration products.
• Collaborate with international engineering team to develop concepts and have them added to refrigeration product plan for future implementation.
• Hands-on approach developing concepts with prototyping and lab testing to demonstrate feasibility.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
• 3-9 years of engineering experience of consumer product design and development
• Active experience using 3D solid modeling software.
• Experience of engineering product development processes.
• Experience with new and emerging technology identification and development.
• Experience with innovation processes and idea generation.
• Familiarity with open innovation and collaboration in an engineering environment.
• Hands-on ability to prototype and experience with rapid prototyping.
• Good communication skills both written and verbal.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks appropriately.
• A self-starter and self-disciplined in accomplishing tasks.
• Strong desire to learn with the ability to be self-taught.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Structural and thermal simulation skills.
• Familiarity with patents and technology trends in refrigeration.
• Familiar with plastics part manufacturing and metal part fabrication processes.
• Experience using consumer insights to drive product development.
• Active experience using SolidWorks for 3D solid modeling.
• Working knowledge of intellectual property and protection.
