OhioGuidestone is the state's leader in community behavioral health care, serving around 26,000 Ohioans each year.Job SummaryThe Behavioral Health Specialist works under the supervision of the Clinical Supervisor/Manager and is responsible for providing case management services to a diverse clientele of children and families with mental health and substance use diagnoses. Services may be provided via telehealth, outpatient offices, and/or community-based settings.Essential Functions:Demonstrate the values and guiding principles of OhioGuidestone every day, performing with the highest standards of excellence, integrity and ethics.Monitor client symptoms as well as response to treatment; communicate changes with treatment team to ensure immediate and appropriate interventionsDevelop and maintain a service relationship with client, family, and caregivers to provide them support as appropriate.Coordinate community resources including school, referral sources and outpatient behavioral health providers to ensure continuity of care; acts as an advocate for the client as needed.Provide crisis intervention consultation in times of emergencies for coordination and assistance in crisis management and stabilization as needed.Facilitate appointments to ensure overall physical well-being including basic, mental health and substance use needs.Review Diagnostic Evaluation and additional assessments, to aid in the ongoing development and implementation of a client's individualized treatment plan (ITP).Attend and participate in agency/ team/clinical meetings, including mandatory trainings, and treatment coordination.Perform related administrative responsibilities; maintain client information, reports, records, and other documents; respond timely to emails and phone calls; attend and participate in various trainings and meetings; communicate with other agencies, departments, and vendors regarding required paperwork, contract compliance and consult with other county agencies and/or supportive services as necessary.Accurately and promptly, document and maintain the confidentiality of client and family interactions including, legal, financial, and clinical documentation within agency guidelines.Meet with Supervisor for weekly supervision.Maintain ongoing frequent contact with other assigned OhioGuidestone professionals, parents or outside agency professionals assigned to case.Exhibit positivity, flexibility and a willingness to take on new responsibilities as requested or required.Demonstrate positive leadership, promote a team-based work environment and a culture of belonging.Present the Agency in the most positive light with all internal and external contacts.Education/Experience:High school diploma or equivalentThree years relevant experience and able to demonstrate competencies in basic behavioral health skills, for example:Understanding of human behavior, mental illness, psychiatric symptoms, and impact on functioning and behavior.Understanding how to therapeutically engage a mentally ill person, concepts of recovery/resiliencyUnderstanding of the mental health system; de-escalation techniquesUnderstanding of principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of emotional and mental dysfunctions.Understanding of group behavior and dynamics, societal trends and influences, human migrations, ethnicity, and cultures and their history and origins.Relevant experience or course of study in behavioral healthcare helpfulQualifications:Mission driven; strong desire to make an impactEffective interpersonal skills; able to speak effectively with individuals and/or groups of peopleAbility to customarily and regularly exercise discretion and good professional judgmentFlexible; able to work days, evenings, and/or weekends, as desired to meet the needs of clientsStrong organizational skills; able to handle multiple priorities with strict attention to detail and perform work independently.Ability to maintain relevant, timely documentation as required.Effective computer literacy skills, including Windows applications, Microsoft Office Suite, and electronic health records, etc.Must be able to access work locations, offices, and homes as necessary, which may include ascending/descending stairs.Possess a valid Ohio Driver's License with a safe driving record and valid insurance.Successfully complete pre-employment screenings, including drug tests, background checks, and any other required assessments, such as a physical examination and TB test.Benefits include:Stable non-profit organization with 160+ year track record!Clear career ladder for development path in various rolesOpportunity to earn monthly $$$ bonus (select clinical/therapist and BHS roles only)Competitive medical benefits including a low-premium medical plan option for employee or employee + children!Free CEU trainingsTen paid holidays; some are exchangeableFlexible work schedules to support work/life balanceFlexible work opportunities to support varying career paths, job roles, intern to hire, and locations401(k) with employer match optionEmployment Assistance Program (EAP)Mileage reimbursementMonthly bonus programRecognition and rewardsAt OhioGuidestone, we demonstrate positive leadership, promote a team-based work environment and a culture of belonging.We also care about the health and safety of our employees.
