Role Overview
Apply advanced physics expertise to help train next-generation AI systems through rigorous, real-world scientific problem solving. This remote independent contractor role focuses on producing high-quality analyses, solutions, and feedback that support how AI models learn, reason, and perform. Prior AI experience is not required.
Key Responsibilities
- Solve advanced physics problems in your area of specialization, providing rigorous, well-documented derivations and analyses.
- Write technically precise solutions using LaTeX, including assumptions, approximations, and final results.
- Use SymPy, Python, and Jupyter to verify symbolic or numerical work and present clear computational workflows when relevant.
- Identify special cases, boundary conditions, and dimensional-consistency considerations in problem statements.
- Flag ambiguities in project materials and propose well-reasoned interpretations or clarifications.
- Revise submitted work in response to reviewer feedback, integrating corrections clearly.
- Maintain research-grade standards for documentation and reproducibility.
Qualifications
- PhD in physics or advanced-stage PhD candidacy, with active research experience in a relevant subfield.
- Research expertise in one or more of the following: high energy physics, mathematical physics, biophysics, statistical physics, condensed matter, including moiré systems, magnetism, PXP/Rydberg, AMO or quantum optics, gravitation, cosmology, astrophysics, quantum information, or optical properties of materials.
- 2 to 5 representative publications from approximately the past 5 years, with accessible arXiv or DOI records.
- Strong physics mastery, technical problem-solving ability, mathematical and computational fluency, and written technical communication skills.
- Proficiency in LaTeX, SymPy, Python, and Jupyter, with willingness to identify areas where further support may be helpful.
- Ability to isolate key physical principles and develop nuanced solutions to complex problems.
Work Terms
- Remote independent contractor engagement.
- Consistent availability of approximately 10 hours per week over an 8 to 10 week period.
Compensation
- $80 to $140 per hour.
