Hiring Locations: El Segundo, Fresno, Fullerton, Oakland, Ontario, Redding, Sacramento, San Diego, San Jose, Westlake Village. Positions are primarily remote, with only 10% of the role requiring in-person meetings, training, and events. About the Company Our client, a well-established and growing California-based law firm, is seeking a Senior Employment Law Attorney with extensive experience handling Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA) matters. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced employment defense attorney looking to join a collaborative and sophisticated practice with a strong growth trajectory. About the Role The ideal candidate will have a deep background in employment litigation defense, significant PAGA and wage-and-hour expertise, and the ability to advise clients on compliance, risk management, and litigation strategy. This role offers the opportunity to lead complex matters, mentor junior attorneys, and contribute to business development initiatives. Responsibilities PAGA Litigation Manage and oversee complex PAGA claims and representative actions from inception through resolution Develop and execute litigation strategies tailored to client objectives and risk tolerance Handle all phases of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, depositions, motions, mediations, and trials Prepare and defend key witnesses while coordinating case strategy with clients and legal teams Evaluate settlement opportunities and provide strategic recommendations Client Advisory & Compliance Advise clients on California employment law compliance and PAGA risk mitigation Conduct wage-and-hour audits and compliance reviews Counsel employers regarding employee classification, meal and rest break requirements, and wage practices Monitor legislative and case law developments and provide proactive guidance to clients Assist clients in developing policies and procedures designed to minimize legal exposure Build and maintain strong client relationships Identify opportunities to expand and strengthen existing client partnerships Develop and deliver seminars, workshops, and training programs related to employment law compliance and PAGA developments Participate in networking and business development activities Serve as a trusted advisor to employers on employment law matters Mentor and supervise junior attorneys and legal support staff Review pleadings, motions, discovery responses, and other legal work product Provide strategic guidance on complex employment law matters Foster collaboration and professional development within the practice group Assist in developing best practices and training initiatives Qualifications 10+ years of employment law litigation experience Significant experience with PAGA, wage-and-hour compliance, and class action matters Recent PAGA experience within the last year is required Experience conducting employment law compliance reviews and wage-and-hour audits Jury trial and civil trial experience preferred Public entity defense experience is a plus Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school Active membership in the California State Bar in good standing Excellent legal research, analytical, negotiation, and advocacy skills Strong written and verbal communication abilities Commitment to proactive case management and client service Required Skills Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision‑making skills Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment Ability to work effectively under deadlines Frequent computer and keyboard use Travel as required Effective verbal and written communication skills Preferred Skills Jury trial and civil trial experience preferred Public entity defense experience is a plus Pay range and compensation package Competitive base salary with quarterly bonus opportunities Accelerated partnership track Hybrid work environment with flexibility Unlimited paid time off (PTO) for attorneys Additional annual vacation credit program Medical, dental, vision, and pet insurance Employer-paid life insurance 401(k) with employer matching after one year Flexible spending account (FSA) Cell phone reimbursement Continuous professional development and training opportunities Employee discount programs Team-building events and holiday celebrations Casual dress environment Premium office locations with convenient access to public transportation Equal Opportunity Statement This job description is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed and is not intended to be an exhaustive list of duties or responsibilities.
