CleanWise Solutions is seeking an experienced Area Manager to oversee the daily operations of an expanding commercial janitorial portfolio consisting of 11 facilities throughout Northwest Washington, DC. This is not a desk job. We're looking for someone who thrives in the field, enjoys solving problems, building teams, maintaining high standards, and taking ownership. You'll spend your days visiting multiple sites, coaching supervisors, ensuring quality standards are met, handling employee concerns, and acting as the bridge between our executive leadership team and our frontline employees. Our client operates community healthcare and support facilities serving vulnerable populations. Because of the nature of these facilities, professionalism, empathy, discretion, and strict adherence to safety protocols are essential. What You’ll Do Managing operations for 11 commercial facilities throughout Washington, DC Visiting multiple buildings each day and ensuring every location receives consistent leadership attention each week Leading, coaching, and developing site supervisors, day porters, and evening cleaning crews Performing quality inspections and ensuring company cleaning standards are consistently achieved Identifying operational issues before they become client concerns Hiring, interviewing, onboarding, training, coaching, disciplining, and assisting with employee performance management Working closely with executive leadership regarding staffing, quality control, scheduling, client concerns, and operational improvements Conducting routine site audits and documenting findings Ensuring employees follow OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and proper PPE procedures Assisting with emergency staffing coverage and operational challenges when necessary Maintaining adequate inventory levels and coordinating supply deliveries Helping build a positive culture focused on accountability, teamwork, and pride in workmanship Responding professionally to time-sensitive issues that occasionally arise outside normal business hours What We’re Looking For We’re searching for someone who naturally takes ownership. Ideal candidates will have: 3+ years of management experience in commercial cleaning, facilities management, environmental services, hospitality, healthcare housekeeping, or similar operations Experience managing multiple locations and multiple supervisors simultaneously Strong leadership and conflict-resolution skills Excellent organizational and time management abilities Confidence making decisions independently Experience with hiring, coaching, corrective action, and employee development Strong written and verbal communication skills Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, email, mobile apps) Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation Ability to travel throughout Washington, DC daily Preferred Qualifications OSHA safety training or related certifications Experience in healthcare, government, institutional, or high-security environments Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus Physical Requirements Walking multiple facilities daily Climbing stairs Standing for extended periods Occasionally lifting up to 40 pounds Working in various indoor environments Responding to operational emergencies when necessary Compensation & Benefits Starting Salary: $65,000 annually.
