Medical Assistant

Job Summary:
The Medical Assistant will provide clinical support in an outpatient cancer center setting, assisting healthcare providers with patient care activities. The role includes performing clinical tasks, answering internal calls, and possibly floating between the Cancer Center and Breast Center. Strong communication and adaptability are essential to support patient care efficiently in this specialized environment.
Responsibilities:
The Medical Assistant will provide clinical support in an outpatient cancer center setting, assisting healthcare providers with patient care activities. The role includes performing clinical tasks, answering internal calls, and possibly floating between the Cancer Center and Breast Center. Strong communication and adaptability are essential to support patient care efficiently in this specialized environment.
Responsibilities:
- Assist healthcare providers with clinical procedures and patient care.
- Perform patient assessments and prepare patients for exams.
- Answer internal calls related to patient care and clinical operations.
- Float between Cancer Center and Breast Center as needed to support clinical workflow.
- Maintain accurate patient records and assist with documentation in Epic charting system.
- Ensure clinical areas are well-stocked and organized.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to facilitate patient care delivery.
- Certified Medical Assistant credential (CMA) from AAMA, AMT, AMCA, NCCT, or NHA.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Minimum of 1 year clinical experience, preferably in outpatient or oncology settings.
- Proficiency with electronic medical records, preferably Epic.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience working in oncology or cancer care environments.
- Ability to adapt to floating between clinical units.
- Knowledge of outpatient clinical workflows and procedures.
- No administrative front desk duties required, but answering internal calls is expected.
- Floating between Cancer Center and Breast Center is required as these units share a hallway.
- On-call duties are not required.
- Must comply with hospital dress code and scrub color policies.
- Standard outpatient clinical hours with no weekend requirements.
- Shift assignments may vary depending on unit needs and floating requirements.
