With a dynamic service environment and strong connection to one of downtown Chicago's leading lifestyle hotels, the restaurant offers an exciting opportunity for hospitality leaders to drive exceptional guest experiences and operational excellence.About the positionThe Assistant Manager at theWit Hotel is responsible for overseeing the overall operations of State and Lake Chicago Tavern. This role requires strong leadership skills to ensure that service standards are maintained or exceeded, enhancing the brand and guest satisfaction. The position involves managing staff, operational efficiency, and guest services in a high-volume restaurant.ResponsibilitiesEnsure day-to-day business operations run smoothlyAssist with training and administrative duties; assist financials / statement preparation; and assist the GM with guest service inquiriesOrganize, run and supervise smooth and efficient daily opening and closing shifts, ensuring an exceptional guest and team experience; including preparing and reconciling banks, conducting pre-shifts, writing daily recaps, and doing restaurant walk-throughsManaging all employees, including assisting in training, coaching, supporting, and discipliningHelp execute private events, special activations, and community initiativesAssist GM in managing costs, driving sales and growing the business in support of financial goalsManaging R&M for the restaurant through approved contractors as neededAssisting in the execution of monthly inventoryWriting schedule for Front of House staff while taking into account team member’s strengths and weaknesses, business levels, special events, and budgeted laborModel and promote teamwork across all teamsUse tact and good judgment when dealing with challenges pertaining to guests, vendors and employees, and respond with patience and courtesyWork a variety of days and shifts (including early mornings, late nights and weekends) as neededRequirementsAt least 1 or more years of recent experience in the same position in a high-volume, fast-paced restaurant settingSkilled in leading and developing teamsStrong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skillsHave experience with OpenTable, Micros, and Microsoft OfficeHave extensive food and beverage knowledgeBe willing to work nights and weekendsAre knowledgeable about hotel serviceFood Safety and BASSET certificationPhysical Requirements:Lift and move up to 10 pounds; frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds; and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 poundsSafely and effectively use all necessary tools, equipment, and cleaning chemicalsStand and walk for an entire shift, including moving safely through all areas of the restaurant which may include stairs, uneven, and/or slick surfacesAbility to bear exposure to hot and cold environmentsCompensation$55,000 - 60,000 per yearBenefits:We offer a comprehensive benefits package designed to support the health, well-being, and financial security of our employees.
