Designer III

The Design Drafter III is responsible for developing product designs and fabrication drawing packages, including thermal oxidizers for our company and external clients. The role involves facilitating internal workflow and collaborating with project management and engineering personnel on design concepts and engineering documents. Responsibilities Receives, reviews, and interprets project requirements and design information including scope of work, engineering specification reviews, calculations, placement sketches, construction notes, control component specs, and internal order forms to complete designs. Provides timely and accurate responses to all inquiries. Interacts closely with project engineers and manufacturing personnel to meet customer needs. Produces 3‑D parts, assemblies, and layouts in CAD, general arrangement (GA) and fabrication drawings, bills of materials, and prototype designs using AutoDesk Inventor. Applies necessary corrections to existing drawings following the quality review process. Determines appropriate drawing methods using customized CAD templates, standard templates, or updates to existing CAD files. Reviews drawings from other drafters to ensure alignment with scoping and corporate drafting standards. Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned. Required Qualifications Associate degree in drafting or CAD technology with 3–5 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g., 8 years in mechanical engineering). Working proficiency with AutoDesk Inventor. Prior experience in engineering design is helpful. Basic understanding of controls and instrumentation, and ability to translate concepts into design. Basic understanding of welding processes, callouts, and applications. Knowledge Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with ADP, D365, and AutoDesk Vault. Mathematics—knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and their applications. Engineering and technology—applied principles for design and production of goods and services. Design—knowledge of techniques, tools, and principles for technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models. Mechanical—knowledge of machines and tools, including design, use, repair, and maintenance. Materials—knowledge of material science, properties, and interactions. English language—grammar, composition, and usage. Work Environment This position is located at our home office in Addison, TX. The candidate must be self‑motivated and able to manage boundaries between work and personal life effectively. The role requires primarily computer use and virtual communication, with occasional scheduled video meetings and collaborative tasks. Physical Demands Typical tasks include standing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions. The work involves sustained accuracy and high hand‑eye coordination, continuous mental and visual attention, and occasional exertion of up to 100 pounds of force. Exposures may include moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, odors, dust, gases, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, limited lighting, and intense noise.
