About the position Position / Specialty: Medical Technician Shift: Evenings, M-F, 2p-1030p, with weekend and holiday rotation Is on-call REQ? No call Weekend REQ: yes, will work 2 full weekends in a row and then 4 weekends off Will this traveler float between service lines? No Required/Preferred: Years of experience REQ: I would prefer applicants with at least 2 years experience First-timers accepted: yes Education/Cert Required: Associate of Science degree in Medical Technology or relevant medical or scientific discipline. Certification as a Medical Technician by ASCP BOC or equivalent or relevant specialty lab certification. Experience Highly Preferred: Hematology and/or Chemistry Experience REQ: Chemistry Miscellaneous Radius rule? Yes, 60 miles. Are locals accepted? Yes, on a case-by-case basis at 10% less than the posted bill rate. RTO Restrictions for Client Offers: All RTO must be included at time of submission. Approval will be based on facility needs. Guaranteed Hours: Facility is allowed to call off 1 shift per 2 weeks. Medical Technologists support high quality laboratory testing in a clinical laboratory. MTs prepare specimens for testing, perform routine laboratory tests, perform specialized laboratory tests, perform quality control, troubleshoot quality control errors and maintenance procedures, recognize and evaluate computer data problems, troubleshoot laboratory instruments, perform preventative maintenance, communicate technical information to medical and lay persons, assist with training laboratory personnel in routine procedures, participate in continuing education, recognize normal and abnormal values, and model Standards of Behavior in daily interactions and activities **Travelers should be aware that during hurricane season, all employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams. If this is a problem, please ensure travelers do not confirm a new or ext assignment during the season. Hurricane season runs from June through November each year. The peak months for hurricane activity are August and September.**
