TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified PCU RN in Asheville, North Carolina, 28801!

Job Title: RN Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Active Nursing License Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Stepdown experience Telemetry experience Description: The primary patient population includes cardiovascular surgery and vascular surgery. This includes open heart surgery, thoracic lung surgery, and esophageal procedures. Overflow patients may present with heart failure, DKA, chest pain, sepsis, and heart block. The unit has 40 cardiac surgery stepdown beds. Approximately 100 staff members work in the unit. The day shift consists of 1 charge RN, 13 RNs, and 4 PCTs. The night shift has 1 charge RN, 13 RNs, and 4 PCTs. The patient ratios are 1:5 for RNs and 1:13 for PCTs. Equipment used includes IV pumps and various lifts. The EMR system in use is Cerner. Candidates should have prior CV surgery and vascular surgery experience within the last year. CVICU experience is preferred. Typical procedures include epidural and chest tube management, tube feedings, and medication management. The ideal candidate is a team player, enjoys a fast-paced environment, and is flexible. Weekend requirements are a minimum of 6 shifts within a 6-week schedule. There is no call requirement, and flexibility to work holidays is appreciated.
