Transit Architecture Business Development Director

Overview We are seeking a talented Transit Architecture Business Development Director to join our national award‑winning architectural practice. Responsibilities Define and execute growth strategies that increase HNTB’s market share in one or multiple offices or divisions. Partner with Line Leadership, Division Presidents, Office Leaders, and Client Service Leaders to run business‑development activities and client initiatives. Implement the Sophisticated Planning Approach (SPA) and develop external relationship plans and client‑focus strategies. Develop strategic plans with national resources and line leaders to set growth goals for foundation and future foundation clients. Serve as a key resource to strengthen relationships at all levels of the client organization and with external influencers. Identify recruiting needs, draft board candidates, and use professional networks to bring industry talent aligned with our culture. Leverage the Sophisticated Sales Approach (SSA) Stages 1‑3 to support external client focus and division business‑development efforts. Assume the role of client‑service leader and/or pursuit champion as needed. Collaborate with government‑relations leaders and external consultants on legislative strategies, relationship development, and community initiatives. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and 12 years of relevant experience, or 16 years of experience if no degree. Experience in the A&E industry with an emphasis on client development and emerging markets. 25‑50 % travel required. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree. Registered Architect.
