Hillcrest Baptist Church is seeking a passionate, Christ-centered Worship Pastor to lead our congregation in authentic, God-honoring worship.

This is more than a music position. We are looking for a shepherd who loves Jesus, loves people, and is called to lead others into the presence of God through worship. Our desire is to find someone who will become an integral part of our church family, investing in our congregation, mentoring our worship team, and helping us fulfill the mission God has given Hillcrest Baptist Church.

Who we are

Hillcrest Baptist Church is located at 7673 Collins Rd on the west side of Jacksonville, Florida — one of the state’s largest metropolitan areas, a major southeastern logistics hub, and home to multiple military bases. With more than 300 members and room to grow, the church’s expansive campus features two main buildings situated on 17 acres of oak-filled property. Guided by the mission of “followers of Jesus living one day at a time, discipling one person at a time,” the church offers contemporary worship, various children’s ministries, and frequent community, statewide and international outreach. However, our core focus remains on discipleship through small groups, one-on-one mentoring, and dedicated youth programs.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

• An evident, growing relationship with Jesus Christ that is reflected in both character and daily life.
• A genuine love for God and His people, serving from the overflow of a heart devoted to Christ.
• A pastoral heart marked by humility, compassion, and a passion for serving the local church.
• A commitment to living with integrity, dependability, initiative, wisdom, loyalty, and biblical character.
• A leadership style that develops and mentors others, empowering people to use their gifts for God’s glory.
• A willingness to embrace and champion the vision and mission of Hillcrest Baptist Church.

Worship Leadership

The Worship Pastor will:

• Lead engaging, Christ-centered worship services that keep the focus on glorifying God rather than performance.
• Recruit, develop, disciple, and mentor members of the praise team and choir.
• Plan and lead weekly rehearsals, teaching vocal parts and providing encouragement and constructive feedback.
• Work closely with the Senior Pastor and church staff to plan worship services that support the preaching and ministry of the church.
• Foster a culture of excellence while maintaining an atmosphere of grace and worship.

Musical & Technical Qualifications

Candidates should possess:

• Strong musical ability, including vocal leadership and a solid understanding of music theory.
• Experience with audio engineering and live sound.
• Working knowledge of ProPresenter and Planning Center.
• Experience using backing tracks and click tracks during worship services.
• The ability to maintain and oversee worship, audio, and visual equipment, ensuring systems remain organized and operational.

Church Life

We desire a Worship Pastor who will:

• Become an active and engaged member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church family.
• Build meaningful relationships with church members, volunteers, and staff.
• Lead worship across all ministries of the church as opportunities arise.
• Work effectively within Hillcrest’s existing worship and sound infrastructure while communicating through appropriate church leadership regarding future equipment or ministry needs.

At Hillcrest Baptist Church, we believe worship is about pointing people to Jesus. We are not searching for a performer. We are praying for a worship leader whose life, leadership, and ministry inspire others to encounter God and grow in their relationship with Him.
