The YWCA White Plains & Central Westchester is looking to hire a qualified candidate for the position of Supervised Visitation Monitor for our Supervised Visitation department in White Plains, NY.

The Supervised Visitation Monitor is responsible for fostering the development of healthy family relationships and supportive living environments by facilitating visitations and documenting family visits in a supervised and controlled setting, as identified in the service plan and/or Individual Treatment Plan within Westchester County.

This role is for someone who cares deeply about child and family wellbeing and wants to be part of the work that keeps families safe and connected during difficult times. As a Supervised Visitation Monitor, you are the steady adult in the room, making sure court-ordered visits are safe, respectful, and supportive for children. You're not counseling or judging anyone. You are creating a safe space, observing, and documenting what happens so kids can maintain healthy relationships with their parents while the court process runs its course.

This is meaningful, hands-on experience for anyone interested in social work, counseling, family services, education, or child development. It's especially fitting for MSW students, recent graduates, or early-career professionals who want exposure to trauma-informed practice, mandated reporting, court-involved families, and structured family-support environments.

You'll learn what real family systems look like during crisis and transition, how to hold boundaries with compassion, and how clear, factual documentation can support better outcomes. Families are doing hard work when they walk through our doors. You'll be part of the team that helps them do it safely and with dignity.

Key Responsibilities:

Visit Supervision

• Supervise parent-child visits to ensure emotional and physical safety
• Maintain continuous visual and auditory monitoring
• Intervene calmly and appropriately when safety rules or program expectations are breached
• Maintain a neutral and professional presence at all times

Documentation & Reporting

• Complete factual visit notes and required documentation immediately following visits
• Accurately record arrival/departure times, interactions, and any incidents
• Report safety concerns, policy violations, or suspected abuse immediately in accordance with organizational protocols

Client Engagement & Program Protocol

• Greet and orient parents and children to visit expectations and procedures
• Uphold trauma-informed practice, cultural sensitivity, and confidentiality boundaries
• Ensure adherence to program rules and court-ordered conditions
• Support safe arrivals, transitions, and departures for families

Team & Compliance

• Participate in required training and supervision
• Attend team meetings, case reviews, and ongoing professional development
• Maintain professional boundaries and ethical standards
• Maintain continuous visual and auditory monitoring
• Intervene calmly and appropriately when safety rules or program expectations are breached
• Maintain a neutral and professional presence at all times

Requirements

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED required

Experience working with children and families required

Knowledge of trauma-informed care, domestic violence, child welfare, or court-involved families preferred

Strong written and observational skills

Ability to remain calm, objective, and respectful under stress

Ability to work independently and uphold program protocols

Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred

Must pass background and child-abuse clearance checks

Training Requirements:

Must complete or be enrolled in the required minimum 24 hours of SVN-aligned training within 12 months of hire, including:

Child development and trauma-informed practice

Domestic violence and child abuse

Safety planning and critical incident response

Mandatory reporting

Neutrality, ethics, and professional boundaries

Observation and factual documentation

Conflict resolution and de-escalation SVN_Standards_12.1.2024

Monitors may only supervise independently once core shadowing and observation requirements are completed.

Must be available to commute to and between the Central White Plains & the Yonkers sites.

We offer multiple placement schedules to meet staffing needs and support students or professionals looking to gain field experience:

Full-Time (Two Positions)

Schedule A

Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday: 4:00 PM - 8:30 PM

*Saturday: 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM or,

Schedule B

Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday: 4:00 PM - 8:30 PM

*Sunday: 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM

Part-Time (Two Positions)

Monday - Friday: Evening coverage - 4:00 PM - 8:30 PM

Per-Diem (One Position - *Yonkers Location)

Saturday & Sunday: 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM
