Position Overview Rutgers University – Newark is seeking an Assistant Coach to report to the Head Coach and develop and maintain a successful NCAA Division III team. The role includes recruiting and retaining student-athletes, planning and conducting practices, assisting in fundraising, and other duties assigned by the Head Coach or Athletic Director. Responsibilities Recruit and retain athletically and academically qualified student-athletes. Plan and conduct practices. Assist in fundraising activities. Perform additional duties assigned by the Head Coach or Athletic Director. Salary $15.92 – $30.00 per hour (FLSA non‑exempt). Final salary will consider qualifications, experience, market benchmarks, and internal equity. Benefits Medical, prescription drug, and dental coverage. Fully on‑site work arrangement. Qualifications Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Up to two years of relevant experience in an administrative function, good communication and interpersonal skills, and computer literacy. Certifications Valid driver’s license. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities One year of leadership or coaching experience at the college, high school, or club level. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to successfully recruit for an NCAA Division III institution. Knowledge of NCAA Division III, ECAC, and NJAC regulations and commitment to adhere to all conference and institutional regulations. Preferred Qualifications Experience with sporting equipment unique to the team. Physical Demands and Work Environment Willingness to work varied hours, including nights and weekends. Ability to work under challenging physical conditions. Ability to lift heavy items up to 50 lbs. Immunization Requirements Employment may require proof of vaccination against seasonal influenza during flu season, except for those with a medical or religious exemption.
