With funding from a recent New Jersey Department of Education grant, Rutgers University is seeking co‑adjunct staff to provide part‑time regional training and coaching to expand NJTSS‑ER implementation capacity for school districts throughout the state. Through web‑based training and ongoing coaching, these new regional trainers/coaches will maintain a crucial role in scaling implementation of NJTSS‑ER. Position Status Part Time Posting Number 25FA0709 Qualifications Minimum Education and Experience Master's degree or higher Specialized training or certification in a structured literacy instructional approach Three or more years of experience coaching, mentoring, or instructing adult learners in the educational setting. Advanced knowledge of research‑based reading instructional practices is required. Preferred Qualifications Along with content and pedagogical expertise listed above, applicants must possess strong interpersonal skills and competencies. Overview One of the most complex aspects of this regional coach position involves exercising professional judgment to identify and address gaps in instructional practice and/or system alignment while maintaining trust and collaboration with educators. The coach must independently assess practices and procedures, analyze student learning data, and determine appropriate next steps. Discretion is essential in determining how to approach coaching conversations in ways that promote educator reflection and growth while also aligning with NJTSS‑ER priorities. Coaches must also navigate varying levels of district/school/educator readiness and school culture, tailoring strategies to meet individual educator needs while ensuring fidelity to research‑based reading and writing practices. This requires balancing content expertise, pedagogical knowledge, and strong interpersonal skills to influence instructional change that ultimately improves student outcomes.
