Transitional Coordinator/Job Coach

Position Transitional Coordinator/Job Coach – Ten (10) month position. Start date September 1, 2026 pending criminal history clearance. Location: Pathways to Adult Living, 95 Main Street, Sayreville, NJ. Program Overview Pathways to Adult Living (PAL) is a comprehensive transition program for students 18‑21 who have completed high school graduation requirements but need additional support to prepare for independent adult living. The program focuses on daily living skills, community‑based instruction, and work‑based learning, all with the goal of facilitating independence. Responsibilities Design and implement travel training for students with disabilities. Outreach to local business communities to provide work‑based learning, including career tours, group or individual internships, and employment opportunities for students with disabilities. Ensure eligible students are provided with an ongoing community‑based vocational program. Work with building principals/administrators, students’ teachers, and school community members to assess vocational needs and physical/learning capabilities for community‑based placements. Meet regularly with each assigned student to provide job coaching. Obtain contacts and work sites in the community necessary for vocational instruction through ESCNJ procedures. Assess student strengths and weaknesses on an ongoing basis and provide appropriate activities. File written progress reports for each assigned student with the ESCNJ building level principal/administrator and the sending district. Facilitate a positive and orderly learning environment for assigned students. Maintain and file required reports and records, including attendance and case evaluations. Coordinate, with the advice of the student’s regular teacher(s), an instructional program for each assigned student in the community‑based program. Coordinate ongoing evaluation of the student, including grades when appropriate, with the student’s teachers and district personnel. Keep informed of educational trends and new methods in vocational education and adapt them to student needs. Work cooperatively with parents/guardians to implement the appropriate instructional program. Work cooperatively with classroom teachers of students receiving job coaching/vocational training. Properly complete all required materials from work sites. Perform other duties as deemed necessary by the ESCNJ building level principal/administrator or Superintendent’s designee. Qualifications Holds a valid New Jersey driver’s license. Must obtain a CDL within 3 months of employment. Teacher certification or certification and/or experience in a related area. Knowledge of special education code related to transition activities, ADA, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and DOL Child Labor laws. Knowledge of local and state agencies that support the transition process (e.g., DVRS, DDD, SSI). Highly qualified in the area of job coaching special‑needs students in community and/or vocational settings. Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with school administrators, teachers, parents/guardians, students, and employers. Experience collaborating with agencies, parents/guardians, and districts. Demonstrated attitude for successful completion of assigned tasks. Other qualifications as determined appropriate by the Commission. Scope & Terms of Employment Reports to: Building level principal/administrator or Superintendent’s designee. Full‑time position. Salary to be established by the ESCNJ Board of Directors. Minimum salary $35,000. Benefits Full‑time staff are eligible for medical, prescription, and dental benefits.
