Dispatcher

About this position Effective deployment of North Memorial Ambulance resources that maximizes response times while efficiently utilizing a minimum number of units. The EMD triages transportation requests, strategically positions resources, recommends effective routes while correctly interpreting computer aided dispatch recommendations. The EMD will also be required to triage incoming calls and provide pre-arrival instructions to callers when appropriate Requirements Education High school graduate or equivalent (GED) Medical terminology coursework or equivalent preferred Experience Must meet a minimum of one requirement below: 6 months experience as a Telecommunicator at North Memorial Health Ambulance Communication Center OR 1 year experience as a Dispatcher/ EMD/Telecommunicator in a Police, Fire or EMS Communications Center Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requires the ability to multi-task, problem solve, make effective decisions under pressure, work independently and in a team atmosphere. Requires the ability to work effectively with other hospitals' staff, public service agencies, peers, co-workers and the general public.
