Position Details Salary: $47,299.20 annually. Interview dates: June 27 and July 11, 2026. Job offers will be made on the same day as the interviews. Future Salary Increases June 2026 – 5.11% increase to base pay (3.5% Across-the-Board + 1.61% Market Adjustment) June 2027 – 4.61% increase to base pay (3% Across-the-Board + 1.61% Market Adjustment) Teleworking opportunities may be available after successfully passing the 12-month probationary period. Overview Human Services Specialists perform technical work in determining eligibility for clients applying for public assistance via governmental programs and community services. Incumbents will be assigned to various locations within the County of San Diego. Those on a Call Center assignment may have flexible work hours, including weekends. Key Responsibilities Interview clients and perform general clerical duties. Provide direct delivery of human services to clients. Process documents related to personal or financial histories of clients. Interpret and explain regulations and procedures to clients. Enter data into computer systems and manage workload. Analyze information and evaluate results. Respond to client queries, handle complaints, and resolve conflicts. Maintain ethical standards. Qualifications At least two (2) years of full-time experience performing public contact work on a daily basis, including one of the following: Interviewing persons and performing general clerical duties. Providing direct delivery of human services to clients. Processing documents related to personal or financial histories of clients. Proficiency with computers using a Windows operating system. Associate degree coursework or equivalent can substitute for the experience requirement. Bilingual language skills (Spanish, Arabic, Farsi, Vietnamese, or Somali) encouraged.
