Payroll Specialist
Responsible for the preparation and processing of weekly non-union payrolls; review and ensure accuracy of approved timesheets; track and deduct all garnishments and other special payroll deductions. Assist with bi-weekly player payrolls and full-time employee payrolls. Help maintain payroll and time tracking within Workday database.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Preparation and processing payrolls
- Assist with running reports for union compliance and dues/benefits remittance
- Assist with maintenance, testing, and upgrades within Workday
- Maintain and audit timecards for non-exempt employees and minor league players
- Correspond with Equifax regarding unemployment claims and maintenance
- Reconcile unclaimed wages for all payrolls
- Collaborate with co-workers on projects and answer employee questions
- Actively participate in payroll audits
- Maintain appropriate payroll records in accordance with company policies and procedures
- Enroll, fund, and reconcile player/coach/staff debit cards for seasonal meal and housing per diem
- Track imputed income for employees with company leased vehicles
- File and archive documents
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 2-3 years of payroll processing experience
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Strong technical and analytical skills
- Experience with database functions and maintenance, including report creation
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion
- Must have the ability to problem solve, multitask, meet hard deadlines, work independently and in a team environment, prioritize, pay attention to details, and communicate effectively
