Student Assistant – Li Lab Student assistant in Dr. Zenglu Li’s lab. Position Details Posting number: G/R09371P Department: CAES-Applied Genetic Tech Ctr Employment type: Employee Work schedule: up to 20 hours per week (schedule determined by supervisor) Salary: $10.50 per hour Anticipated start date: 01/02/2024 Posting date: 11/30/2023 Closing date: Open until filled Location: Athens Area Responsibilities Take agronomic notes, collect data, and harvest soybean research plots in the field. Work in the seed lab to weigh and clean samples, thresh individual plants, and prepare seed for spring planting. Minimum Qualifications Preference given to students with background education in agriculture and/or chemistry. Preference given to students with experience with soybean or near‑infrared spectroscopy. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Physical Demands While performing the duties, the student will regularly stand, sit, talk, hear, use hands and fingers to operate a commercial grinder and computer, reach, and stoop/kneel to lift up to 50 lbs. Exposure to moderate‑loud noise (earplugs provided). Sit and perform repetitive tasks for long periods of time. Exposure to soybeans and ground soybean/soybean dust (dust mask provided).
