Job Overview Certified Pediatric Medical Surgical Patient Care Assistant – integral part of Banner Health’s supportive environment, providing specialized care with teamwork, education, process improvement, and inter‑professional collaboration. Location 1625 N Campbell Ave, Tucson, Arizona. Schedule Full‑time; day and night shifts available (3–12 hour shifts) Night shift: 7:00 pm – 7:30 am Shift schedule varies; no fixed times Weekend rotations required One major and one minor holiday rotation required Weekend shift differential: $1 per hour; night shift differential: 18% when applicable Responsibilities Assist with daily living activities to promote patient health, including personal hygiene, mobility, and nutritional intake. Collect specimens and data (vital signs, input/output, etc.) and document in medical records; transport specimens when required. Identify and report abnormalities or changes in patient status to a licensed professional and ensure accurate communication to all caregivers. Perform procedures and use equipment delegated by a licensed professional (blood draws, foley catheter removal, IV removal, EKGs, Health Unit Coordinator duties); provide supplies and assistance under supervision. Execute receptionist/clerical duties to support efficient department flow and resolve customer issues. Maintain adequate office, dietary, and medical supplies; handle requisition forms, order reconciliation, and equipment tracking (scanners, laptops). Assist with patient transport, including pre‑operative, immediate post‑operative patients, and participate in room turnover. Support a fast‑paced environment with strong customer service; interact with staff, patients, families, and physicians. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Current BLS certification required. Excellent organizational, human relations, and communication skills. Computer literacy and keyboarding skills required. Board Certification (BSS) members must have 12 months Banner experience. Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card (and, if applicable, Arizona Criminal History Affidavit) required for specified Banner locations. Preferred Qualifications Recent healthcare experience and medical terminology knowledge preferred. Additional related education and/or experience also preferred. Physical Demands / Environment Factors Must stand, walk, bend, squat, reach, and stretch frequently; lift up to 75 pounds. Perform fine motor tasks and use proper body mechanics for patient ambulation and transfers. Require adequate hearing, vision, and color vision; use standard precautions for blood/bodily fluids.
