Systems Quality Assurance Specialist

Job Summary:

The Systems Testing/QA Specialist - Intermediate is responsible for planning, developing, and executing comprehensive testing strategies to ensure the quality and reliability of enterprise-level IT systems. This role involves manual and automated testing across various environments, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring compliance with industry standards including accessibility regulations. Responsibilities:

• Advise on testing strategies, test plans, tool selection, and resource identification.
• Plan and organize testing efforts for large systems in GUI and non-GUI environments.
• Develop and execute test plans, test scripts, and test cases including functional, integration, system, regression, and user acceptance testing.
• Identify, document, and track software defects using tools such as ALM, JIRA, Bugzilla, and Azure DevOps.
• Collaborate with developers to reproduce and resolve issues.
• Develop and maintain automated test scripts using tools like Micro Focus UFT, Selenium, TestComplete, or Postman.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
• Conduct performance, stress, and load testing to validate system scalability and reliability.
• Ensure testing processes comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements, including AODA.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and collaborate with business analysts, project managers, and developers to clarify requirements.
• Maintain detailed documentation of test results, coverage, and quality metrics.
• Provide input for user manuals and release notes.
• Validate data integrity, consistency, and accuracy across system components and databases.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• 2+ years of software testing experience in enterprise IT environments.
• Hands-on experience with manual and automated testing tools and frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Postman).
• Strong knowledge of Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall testing methodologies.
• Experience with AODA testing and compliance.
• Proficiency with defect tracking tools such as JIRA, Azure DevOps, or similar.
• Experience creating and maintaining test strategies, test cases, scripts, and reports.
• Experience with performance testing tools like JMeter, LoadRunner, or similar.
• Knowledge of databases (SQL, Oracle) and ability to write queries for backend testing.
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and integration tools (e.g., Jenkins, Git).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Knowledge of programming languages for automation (e.g., Python, JavaScript, Bash).
• Experience with automated test tools like Micro Focus UFT, TestComplete, or Cypress.
• Familiarity with security testing and collaboration with security specialists.
• Experience with information retrieval packages and object-oriented testing methods.
• Knowledge of Information Management principles and policies.
• Experience testing Commercial Off-the-Shelf Applications (COTS).
• Public sector quality assurance standards and practices experience.

• Collaboration within Agile teams and participation in Agile ceremonies is required.
• Work involves handling sensitive data requiring privacy and security considerations.
• Must be able to work under pressure and adapt to aggressive timelines.
• Onsite presence required for 5 days.

• May require flexibility to participate in Agile ceremonies and meet project deadlines.
