Systems Quality Assurance Specialist

Job Summary:

The Systems Testing/QA Specialist - Intermediate is responsible for planning, developing, and executing comprehensive testing strategies for enterprise-level IT systems. This role involves manual and automated testing across GUI and non-GUI environments, ensuring system functionality, performance, accessibility compliance, and overall quality. The specialist collaborates with cross-functional teams to maintain high standards throughout the software development lifecycle, supporting Agile methodologies and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities:

• Advise on testing strategies, test plans, tool selection, and resource allocation.
• Plan and organize testing efforts for large systems including integration, functional, regression, stress, and user acceptance testing.
• Develop and execute test plans, scripts, and cases across various system components.
• Identify, document, and track software defects using tools such as ALM, JIRA, Bugzilla, and Azure DevOps.
• Collaborate with developers and project teams to reproduce and resolve issues.
• Develop and maintain automated test scripts using tools like Micro Focus UFT, Selenium, TestComplete, or Postman.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
• Conduct performance, stress, and load testing to validate system scalability and reliability.
• Ensure compliance with Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability Act (AODA) and related standards.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
• Maintain detailed documentation of test results, coverage, and quality metrics.
• Provide input for user manuals and release notes.
• Ensure testing processes meet industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Minimum 2 years of software testing experience in enterprise-level IT environments.
• Hands-on experience in manual and automated testing tools and frameworks.
• Strong knowledge of Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall testing methodologies.
• Extensive experience with AODA testing and compliance.
• Proficiency with test automation tools such as Selenium and Postman.
• Experience with performance testing tools like JMeter or LoadRunner.
• Familiarity with defect tracking tools including JIRA and Azure DevOps.
• Strong understanding of system, integration, regression, and acceptance testing.
• Knowledge of databases (SQL, Oracle) and scripting languages (Python, JavaScript, Bash).
• Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins or GitLab.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience with programming languages and object-oriented testing methods.
• Knowledge of Information Management principles and policies.
• Familiarity with cloud technologies such as Azure and AWS.
• Experience coding automated test scripts and managing test data strategies.
• Experience testing Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) applications.
• Experience with security testing and collaboration with security specialists.
• Knowledge of information retrieval packages.
• Experience with tools like Cypress and TestRail or Zephyr.
• Public sector quality assurance standards experience.

• Testing processes must adhere to industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Work involves collaboration within Agile teams and adherence to Agile ceremonies.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet aggressive timelines.
• Must be able to work 5 days onsite.

Scheduling:

• Standard work schedule with requirement for 5 days onsite.
• May require flexibility to participate in Agile ceremonies and testing cycles aligned with sprint schedules.
