About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Medicine Specialty: Pediatrics Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: 3 years of level I trauma experience required License: Current RN License issued by the state board of nursing or a current multistate compact RN License Certifications: Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association; PALS (American Heart Association) Must-Have: 1 year of experience; knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures Description: Under general supervision, provides nursing care in a hospital to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex. Assumes responsibility for an assigned group of patients. Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments. Notes all changes in physician orders for assigned patients. Assists physicians in examining patients and performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatments. Obtains and monitors physiological data of patients, observing physiological manifestations and intervening when necessary. Administers medications as prescribed. Initiates, regulates, and monitors intravenous infusions and blood products. Delivers patient care competently. Interacts with families and patients, sharing care plans while in the hospital and at discharge. Informs patients and families of hospital procedures. Makes referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel. Delegates tasks to support staff. Performs other duties as assigned. Weekends and holidays required. Float Pool position including floating to medical, surgical, medical specialty, hematology/oncology, and step-down. Can also float to NICU for feeder growers. Good verbal and written communication skills are essential. Ability to maintain good working relationships with other employees is needed. Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors is required. Some computer skills are necessary.
