CNA-1 Part-time (formerly GNA)

The CNA-1 assists the licensed nursing staff by performing routine nursing duties and assisting residents in activities of daily living.

Compensation: $17.00 per hour. Potential for $1.00 shift differential for 3pm-11:00pm or 11pm-7a on weekdays and $2.00 shift differential for all shifts on Saturday and Sunday. Sign-on bonus of $600.00 paid over 6 months.

Shift and Schedule: part-time 7am-3pm, 3pm-11pm, or 11pm-7am. Every other weekend or every other weekend with some shifts during the week. Part-time positions are less than 29 hours per week. Rotating holidays.


Essential Duties:

1. Assists residents with personal care, including but not limited to dressing, grooming, shaving, incontinent care, oral care, eating, bathing, positioning, turning, toileting, exercising, ambulating, and other basic needs.

2. Performs vital signs as directed.

3. Observes and reports changes in resident's behavior, emotional state, or physical condition.

4. Provide companionship to residents as needed.

5. Ensure the safety of residents.

6. Provides direct resident care in accordance with nursing standards and facility protocols.

7. Accurately and timely documents services provided in EMR/HER systems and according to facility protocol.

8. Gives treatments, performs tests, carries out procedures and collects specimens as instructed.

9. Reports and records observations and results of treatments, tests, procedures and specimens when indicated.

10. Transfers, transports, and escorts residents as needed.

11. Assists with activities as planned and/or directed.

12. Responds to call lights and emergencies in a timely manner.

13. Changes bed linens, makes beds and keeps rooms clean and orderly.

14. Makes careful and efficient use of supplies, linen, and equipment.

15. Observes infection control and consistently practices standard and transmission-based precautions.

16. Maintains a clean and safe resident unit.

17. Observes all safety rules and regulations.

18. HIPAA Compliance - follows written policies and procedures to ensure confidentiality of protected health information.

19. OIG Compliance - follows written policies and procedures to comply with the federal and state laws and regulations.

20. Interacts with residents and coworkers in a friendly and respectful manner.

21. Completes other duties and projects as assigned.

Other Duties:

1. Maintains safe and sanitary workstations and equipment.

2. Encourages independence of residents, attendance at activities, restorative programs and rehabilitation.

3. Attends in-service training and education sessions as assigned.

4. Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications:
• Successful completion of a Board-approved nursing assistant competency evaluation, of a Maryland Board-approved nursing assistant training program or acute care nursing assistant training program that meets the curriculum approved by the Board, including passing the Maryland Board-approved nursing assistant competency evaluation.
• Registration as a CNA-1 with the State of Maryland Board of Nursing registry in good standing.
• Current CPR certification with a hands-on component.
• First Aid certification required or ability to complete certification upon hire.
• Basic computer skills.
• Prior long term care experience is preferred.
• Possess a positive and professional attitude.
• Ability to work well in a team-orientated environment.
• Ability to remain calm and patient when dealing with residents.
• Ability to listen attentively is essential.
• Ability to problem solve and work well under pressure.
• A willingness to navigate changes in assignments.
• Ability to show empathy and compassion while interacting with residents.
• Ability to understand and follow instructions in English, communicate effectively, and perform simple arithmetic. Ability to document care given.
• Compliance with North Oaks Immunization requirements.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: Frequent standing, stooping, bending, stretching, squatting, and walking for up to 90% of the workday. Must be able to reach up to a level of 6 feet. Must be able to push a dietary cart up to 40 lbs. unassisted. Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs. frequently, and 50 lbs. occasionally. Must be able to transport residents via wheelchair, gerichair or shower chair; pushing up to 150lbs., unassisted. Must be able to transfer, lift, turn, and position a resident weighing up to 50 lbs. unassisted or with the assistance of one for a resident weighing over 125 lbs. May be subjected to offensive odors and combative behavior. May be exposed to blood and body fluids which may contain HIV and/or HBV.
