For over 50 years, MHMR has provided community-based services for youth and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), mental health conditions, and substance use disorders, as well as babies and young children with developmental delays. To assist MHMRTC patients in obtaining and maintaining SSI/Medicaid and other relevant benefits by screening for eligibility; educating patients on available options; obtaining necessary information and documents; assisting with the completion of forms; providing review/changes assistance; monitoring and tracking progress toward benefit award; and providing representation for patients throughout the application and appeal process. The Patient Benefits Specialist works within the Local Authority and assists those in all service coordination programs including GR/SC, TxHmL, CFC, and HCS with patient benefit information and education on benefits access.
