Unit Coordinator (Charge Nurse) - Inpatient Internal Medicine

Position Summary / Overview Provides charge nurse responsibilities, including assignments, management of throughput, staffing to matrix, and responding to patient and staff needs. Manages a patient care assignment as indicated by patient care needs. Assists with hiring, education, and performance evaluation of the staff. Works with the Nurse Manager and Human Resources in performance management counseling and discipline of staff. Instructs staff and ensures compliance with standards through daily on‑going monitoring and performance management. Serves as a role model and mentor for excellence in clinical practice and patient and employee satisfaction. Takes personal responsibility for achieving productivity targets and budget compliance. Has primary involvement and responsibility for unit performance improvement activities and outcomes. Instruct staff and ensure compliance with standards through daily monitoring. Serve as role model and mentor for clinical excellence and employee satisfaction. Achieve productivity targets and maintain budget compliance. Participate in unit performance improvement activities and outcomes. Perform professional, clinical, and/or technical competencies of assigned unit. Unit Information Unit 42: 33‑bed medical‑surgical unit providing care for patients with a wide range of medical conditions, including organ failure disorders, respiratory complications, infections, psychosocial conditions, and various diagnoses. Required Education and Experience High School Graduate. • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) – required for nurses hired after November12025.• ADN‑prepared nurses hired before November12025 must enroll in a BSN program within 6months of hire and complete the BSN by the third anniversary of hire. Preferred Education and Experience Master’s Degree in Nursing with 2or more years of clinical experience. Required Licensure and Certification Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS) – American Heart Association (AHA). Registered Nurse in State of Kansas or State of Missouri. Licensed Registered Nurse (LRN) – Multi‑State Licensure. Secure a Nurse Compact License (NCL) within 60days of hire to practice in Kansas and other compact states. Preferred Licensure and Certification Professional Nursing Certification. Job Details Full‑time position. Shift: Inpatient internal medicine days and nights.
