Job Overview The Department of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill invites applications for a Korean language instructor for fall 2026. The role teaches elementary Korean, with the possibility of additional sections in spring, and follows a proficiency‑based approach to language teaching. Responsibilities Teach three sections of Elementary Korean during the fall semester (four days a week: MW 11:15‑12:05 & TR 11:05‑11:55, MTWR 2:30‑3:20, MTWR 3:35‑4:25). Hold office hours and participate in program meetings. Engage in cultural enrichment activities and other duties as assigned. Optionally teach remotely for qualified U.S. applicants. Qualifications Minimum Education: MA, preferably in Korean language pedagogy or a related field. Preferred Qualifications: Native or near‑native proficiency in Korean and English; experience teaching Korean as a second language at the university level, particularly in the U.S. Compensation & Benefits The pay is $8,500 per course section.
