Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough assessments of patients before and after surgical procedures, ensuring optimal care management throughout their healthcare journey.
• Engage in the evaluation and treatment of both acute and chronic health issues, focusing on liver health and transplant procedures.
• Perform and interpret diagnostic tests, ordering appropriate examinations and initiating treatment plans based on physician collaboration.
• Administer medications with adherence to formulary protocols, under the supervision of attending physicians.
• Assist in the operating room as a first or second assistant during surgical procedures, contributing to a seamless surgical workflow.
• Manage hospital admissions and discharges, ensuring all necessary documentation is completed accurately and efficiently.
• Educate patients and their families about treatment options, recovery processes, and preventive health strategies.
• Actively participate in quality improvement initiatives and uphold compliance with regulatory standards and institutional policies.
• Build strong relationships with patients, understanding and responding to their diverse needs and backgrounds.

Patient Population / Client Focus

You will primarily work with patients undergoing liver transplantation and those with liver-related diseases. This population often requires specialized care that is both complex and sensitive. Your role is crucial in guiding patients through surgery and recovery, providing empathetic support and expert medical knowledge to enhance their healthcare experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
• Completion of a Physician Assistant program accredited by recognized accrediting bodies.
• Current PA State License and certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Valid Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration.

Preferred Experience

• A minimum of one year of experience in a surgical or transplant setting is preferred.
• Hands-on experience with liver disease management or in a surgical role is highly desirable.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
