ABOUT INTERNATIONAL INSTITUTE OF LOS ANGELES (IILA) International Institute of Los Angeles (IILA) provides transformative services to refugees, immigrants, and working families by promoting self-sufficiency, strengthening resiliency, and honoring cultural identities. IILA serves nearly 130,000 individuals every year through its nine state-funded pre-schools, network of childcare providers, nutrition program for children, immigration legal services, refugee programs, case management services for unaccompanied minors and survivors of human trafficking, subsidized transportation services, utilities and telecommunications assistance, and other services. To learn more about us, please visit GENERAL SUMMARY The Director of Development is a senior member of IILA’s Development team responsible for leading and growing IILA’s individual giving program, with a primary focus on major donors and overall individual philanthropy. This role develops and executes strategies to increase donor acquisition, retention, and upgrades while deepening relationships with supporters through personalized stewardship, events, and board engagement. The Director of Development oversees annual giving, monthly giving, planned giving, donor cultivation, and campaign strategy, working closely with leadership, board members, and volunteers to achieve revenue goals. The Director of Development also collaborates with the IILA Development team to promote private foundation giving and corporate sponsorships. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Major Gifts & Individual Giving Strategy Develop, lead, and manage IILA’s major donor program, including identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of high-net-worth individuals Develop and implement a comprehensive individual giving strategy to grow revenue across all donor segments Manage a portfolio of major donors and prospects, conducting regular donor meetings and personalized outreach Campaigns & Annual Fund Collaboratively design and execute annual fund campaigns, including a yearly fundraising calendar aligned with organizational priorities Develop integrated campaign strategies across mail, digital, events, and personal solicitation Track performance metrics and adjust strategies to meet or exceed revenue goals Monthly Giving, Memberships & Planned Giving Design, oversee, and grow IILA’s monthly giving and membership programs, including donor acquisition and retention strategies Develop and implement planned giving initiatives, including marketing, donor education, and stewardship of legacy donors Collaborate with finance and leadership to ensure proper tracking and recognition of planned gifts. Board Engagement & Volunteer Leadership Partner with the Board of Directors to support individual giving, including donor introductions, solicitations, and stewardship. Prepare board members with talking points, materials, and training to strengthen fundraising engagement. Support board-led fundraising initiatives and special campaigns. Donor Stewardship & Events Lead donor stewardship efforts to ensure timely, meaningful, and personalized engagement Plan and execute small private donor events, cultivation gatherings, and recognition activities Ensure consistent donor communication, acknowledgment, and impact reporting. Collaboration & Administration Work closely with IILA’s Chief Executive Officer, Director of Institutional Advancement, other executive leadership, and program staff to align fundraising efforts with organizational priorities. Oversee donor data, reporting, and forecasting related to individual giving. Strategize and support outreach to private foundations and corporations. Supervise staff or consultants as assigned and contribute to a collaborative team culture. Perform other job-related duties as assigned. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Intermittent or continuous sitting, walking, carrying, pushing, pulling, standing, driving, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, and twisting. (4-8 hours/day). Frequent keyboarding into a computer (4-8 hours/day). JOB SITE LOCATION 3845 Selig Place, Los Angeles, CA 90031 The selected candidate will work a hybrid work schedule with three days in the office and two days working remotely. SALARY RANGE The salary for this position starts at $130,000/year and may be adjusted up to $150,000 based on experience. We offer a generous Paid Time Off program (4-5 weeks per year, depending on the number of years of employment), as well as eleven (11) Paid Holidays, one (1) Personal Day each year. We offer a 401(k) retirement plan with a Safe Harbor Match. We match your contribution dollar for dollar up to a maximum of 4% of your total compensation, along with an annual profit sharing plan (vesting applies to the profit-sharing plan). Additionally, we provide up to five (5) days paid time off per year for Bereavement Leave and Jury or Witness service. IILA observes a standard 37.50-hour work week to allow our employees the opportunity to enjoy a better work/life balance.
