Director of MS Field Strategic Initiatives

About This Role The Director, MS Field Strategic Initiatives will serve as a key strategic and operational partner to the Head of Commercial, MS Field, supporting the execution of critical priorities across the MS field organization. The role focuses on ensuring that each field team is aligned, equipped, and positioned to execute Biogen’s commercial strategy both today and in the future within a dynamic and competitive MS marketplace. Responsibilities include operationalizing national priorities, driving the rollout of field initiatives, translating strategy into field execution, partnering with analytics, operations, and headquarters stakeholders, monitoring performance, ensuring reporting and incentive structures, and supporting preparation for key leadership forums. What you’ll do Serve as a strategic and operational partner to the Head of Commercial, MS Field and support leadership priorities across sales, access & reimbursement, and key customer management. Partner with HQ to develop short- and long-term road maps of national field initiatives and lead their rollout and implementation. Collaborate with cross‑functional stakeholders across marketing, market access, medical, analytics, and operations to embed field perspectives into commercial strategy and execution. Work closely with finance partners to monitor field Opex and support the national P&L contribution. Assist field leaders in developing regional/local strategies and tactics related to market access pull‑through, account management, and evolving customer needs. Monitor and analyze field performance data to identify trends, opportunities, and risks, providing actionable insights to sales leadership. Partner with analytics and operations to create clear, actionable performance reporting and dashboards for effective decision‑making. Support development and refinement of field incentive compensation strategies and ensure alignment with strategic priorities. Ensure field leaders have visibility into key performance metrics and translate complex data into actionable insights. Coordinate field insights and feedback to keep headquarters teams informed about market dynamics, customer perspectives, and execution challenges. Prepare for key leadership forums, including National Sales Meetings, BNA leadership meetings, and major commercial updates. Work with Directors of Sales, Access & Reimbursement, and KCMs to maintain consistent communication of national priorities and performance expectations. Support rollout and execution of field training and capability initiatives and work with US Commercial Learning to align training programs with field needs. Coordinate readiness for major commercial milestones and monitor adoption and effectiveness of key initiatives. Lead special projects that strengthen field effectiveness, including operational improvements, performance tracking initiatives, and new field programs. Maintain the operating rhythm of the MS field organization, supporting leadership meetings, initiative tracking, and consistent communication of field priorities. Who you are Strategic and highly analytical commercial leader who thrives at the intersection of strategy and field execution. Strong business acumen and deep understanding of pharmaceutical field organizations within complex specialty markets. Effective communicator capable of translating strategy into actionable plans that drive execution. Skilled at synthesizing performance data, identifying improvement opportunities, and ensuring large‑scale initiatives are implemented successfully. Organized and project‑savvy, able to manage multiple priorities while maintaining focus on impact. Collaborative and adept at building trusted relationships with field leaders and headquarters stakeholders. Motivated by helping field organizations perform at their best and providing leadership with insights, preparation, and operational support. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred. 10+ years of experience in biopharma commercial roles, including field operations, analytics, consulting, or commercial strategy. Strong understanding of pharmaceutical field organizations and specialty sales dynamics. Demonstrated ability to analyze commercial performance data and translate insights into actionable field strategies. Experience supporting the execution of large‑scale field initiatives, sales programs, or commercial transformation efforts. Proven ability to operate in a highly cross‑functional environment and partner effectively with both field leadership and headquarters teams. Strong executive communication skills with experience developing leadership materials, field communications, and strategic presentations. Exceptional organizational and project‑management skills, able to drive multiple initiatives simultaneously. High level of business acumen, supporting performance management, field metrics, and execution tracking. Proven ability to drive strategic initiatives from concept through implementation in a fast‑paced commercial environment. Openness to travel periodically to support field leadership meetings and National Sales Meetings. Job Level Management Compensation and Benefits Base salary range: $196,000.00 – $270,000.00. The base salary is determined through an analytical approach utilizing a combination of factors, including skills, experience, location, and internal equity. Employees are eligible for short‑term and long‑term incentives, including cash bonus and equity opportunities, designed to reward recent achievements and future potential.
